Now that I've finished watching Monkey Man...I can't help but think of how this is a love letter to India. Yes, the movie focuses on the corruption, the fucked up officials, the casteism, the bigotry, the rot that exists within the country. But I've never seen such a clear depiction of the country done with so much love. The paan made with ungloved hands. The stray dog that will just show up. The hijra women and the statue of ardhanarishvar. A depiction of Hinduism built out of love and not out of the current fervor of hate that is gripping the country. Every small scene was so beautiful.

And I adore Dev Patel so much for this brutal portrayal of everything that's wrong with the country. The politician hiding behind the religious beliefs, the divisive comments causing hate and violence towards the minorities, people being forced out of their land because of some sham godsman. The corruption, the casteism, the ill treatment of the poor and the oppressed. It's all such stark reality.

The cinematography was great and the sound was also really awesome and I can just see how it's such a labour of love. This movie is everything and I can see why the Indian government wouldn't want it released...especially so close to the election. It exposes them too much

The Indian government and the Censor Board can change the colour of the flags used from saffron to red but they cannot take away from the deep anti-current ruling party messaging in the movie. One of the main antagonist literally acts like the fake godman who masquerades as a politician in UP. It's so obvious what the movie is about

Anonymous asked:

have you tried paper rater (paperrater.com)? I use that a lot alongside grammary and pro-papers (tho my grammarly is edu version and pro-papers has a word limit)

paper rater is pretty helpful since it also grades the text and stuff ^^

It's saying I need premium tho :(

Does anyone know any free plagiarism checkers which don't really have a word limit

Thinking about how Ian Malcolm said that the art of learning your knowledge gives you the discipline to handle it (idk the exact line) and how John Hammond was a man who did not have that discipline because he profited off other people's work and just bought it, and patented it as his own. And that was why he was so reckless with the responsibility that came with it.

And thinking about how it is still relevant today. Like for example elon musk. Him buying the technology he is known for today. Him standing on the shoulders of the people who work for him so he gets where he has to. And how he never seems to take responsibility for the mishaps of his company. Its just...a lot to think about.

Look, the Jurassic Park movies were great but I will never forgive them for making John Hammond seem like a genial old lightly grey character who committed a big whoopsie :( like no he was the REAL villain (alongside nedry lol). He was manipulative and evil and a rich bastard who only wanted to maximize his profits, even at the expense of human lives. The book was a critique of him and his incredibly capitalist tendencies (that the movies oh so carefully removed). And at the end of the book, I was rooting for the compys ngl. He deserved to die, that man.
