"gender critical" is such a funny term for people who base their whole identity around unquestioningly enforcing the gender binary they were raised with. the patriarchy set up a binary and you're like "I will defend the sanctity of this social construct in the name of feminism" Absolute clown shoes. Imagine a tradcath calling themself "religion critical"

I think the reason so many LOTR ripoffs fail is because they make their Aragorn analogue the main character, when the entire point of Aragorn is that he’s “the person the villains think is the main character, but is Not.”

Aragorn seems like a traditional King Arthur style hero— he has huge Main Character Energy because he’s supported by destiny, by bloodline, by all these magic artifacts and prophecies, and etc etc. Frodo and Sam are Just Some Guys. Aragorn recognizes that Sauron understandably thinks he’s the main hero of this story ….and he pretends to believe it too, spending the entire series using himself as a diversion to prevent Sauron from seeing Frodo and Sam.

Aragorn’s whole thing is that knows he seems like the Main Hero of this legend to people who don’t know better —- but he also knows that he isn’t, and that his role is just to keep Sauron’s eye on him in order to protect the people around him.

And it works! Sauron is so fixated on defeating his Legendary Destined Archenemy with Extreme Main Character Energy that he completely overlooks the two ordinary little guys who were the real threat to him all along.

I think the fact that major media conglomerates suffer from the same misconception about Aragorn that Sauron did should tell us something about them

“I hate school I’m sorry Malala”- Funny yet poignant. Acknowledges both the difficulty of the task and the fact that doing that task is a privilege. Gives credit to the people who fought for that privilege with a tongue in cheek acknowledgement of the irony of the initial statement

“I’m just a girl I should be home baking bread not doing calculus” - at best historically uninformed at worst leaps decades back in time. Refusal to acknowledge the charged history of education and slights the centuries of women’s labor it took to reach this point

This is incorrect. Hooters was founded in 1983, and the first permanent maid cafe, Cure Maid Cafe, was established in 2001. Maid cafe’s are an extremely Japanese take on Hooters.

stop calling me "my fragile little flower" or "my beautiful delicate pet" im literally going for a glass cannon build. i can one shot most adults

no . wait . come back im sorry. im your fragile little flower and there is a scary man charging up a beam to turn my beautiful fragile petals into ash

the humble "like" is oft mocked despite what it does for us. "like, three people" is a vastly different statement from "three people". "and i was like 'what the fuck'" is vastly different from "and i said 'what the fuck'". i love you "like" and anyone who says you make people sound stupid will be killed on sight

During autism awareness month, it’s important to recognize this type of misinformation propaganda. Please reblog and share to spread the word. This is complete ableism.

Autism Speaks also released a statement on Wednesday, calling Kennedy comments "extremely disappointing and damaging."

"Autism is not a preventable condition," the nonprofit autism organization said. "The suggestion that it is—especially when linked to environmental toxins without scientific evidence—contributes to decades-old misinformation and distracts from the real needs of autistic people and their families."

Damn you know it’s bad when Autism Speaks speaks out against it. Do you have the link?

Thank you for sharing!
