i think gen z ppl need to stop trying to moderate social media– which is impossible to moderate– and just go on forums already. “this is for mlm, wlw dni” bruh i’m telling you, if you discover mlm forums you’ll go bananas. everyone there will be mlm, i promise. this is genuinely friendly advice. stop wasting your time trying to control your twitter and tik tok, it won’t work because it’s designed to not be controlled.

I’ve said it before but the loss of forums in place of homogenized mass social media is a huge blow to the development of communities, and trying to implement forum rules, logic & expectations on social media is doomed to failure and just results in unnecessary hostility and argument.

Okay, but I've seen this argument thrown around for years, and I never believed it because it's been pushed into my brain since I was a child by my extremely Christian parents that abortion is fundamentally evil because it goes against the Bible. But I'm taking a 2nd Wave Feminism course and I finally found out that this is actually 100% true? Until the Reagan campaign and associated Republican politicians tried to find another social issue to sway Southerners, especially Southern women, in their favor, abortion was not a primary issue for churches. It was only when feminists started mobilizing and, as a result, many institutions such as the Catholic church tried to mobilize against them that churches started advocating against abortion. Abortion did not become an issue of morality for the right until the 70s. Before then, abortion was simply not discussed because most things relating to sex weren't publicly discussed. So no, according to popular belief, the argument that abortions are killing babies did not always exist, it was just an argument crafted when the Republican party needed another social group to oppress for political points

oh, addendum to this, too: a friend and I also looked into the person who produced the music for him, and guess what? we’re pretty sure he’s underage as well! i’m not sure if he’s a fan, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with him hiring young people to do work for him if he likes their work, but this REEKS of taking advantage of teenagers because they will work for cheap or FREE because they are fans :/

It’s true! Especially given a) the technology they had at the time to pull this off, and b) that they had characters from TWO separate companies as opposed to different characters from the same comics publisher.

So yeah, Roger Rabbit wins the ambitious crossover award, hands down. Sorry Marvel.

The agreement with Disney and Warner Bros was that they could only use their biggest characters (Mickey and Donald, Bugs and Daffy) if the other corrosponding character had the exact same amount of screentime. This is why, in the movie, Bugs and Mickey are sharing scenes, and Daffy and Donald are sharing scenes.

It’s also worth mentioning that every single animator in the industry that wasn’t already working on something was called in to work on this film. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

that’s nuts! It’s also a legitimately great movie, a noir comedy that ties in the actual history of Los Angeles alongside the history of animation comfortably alongside the gratuitous silliness. And Bob Hoskins is a fucking CHAMP for his acting in this, one of the earlier examples of green-screen acting with characters who mostly aren’t there and he can make you totally forget that he can’t see what’s happening a lot of the time.

Bob Hoskins is also a fucking champ because what he could see was Charles Fleischer (Roger Rabbit) delivering lines off-camera dressed like this:

A casual reminder that this was LONG before inter-company crossovers became a thing. The very idea of Bugs and Mickey officially sharing screen time was UNTHINKABLE in the 80s. And then throw in Betty Boop, Droopy Dog, Woody Woodpecker, and Felix the Cat, all from different studios/rightsholders? Yowza. (If only King Features had let them put Popeye in.)
