Okay so I'm compiling all the prompt fics on A03 as well so you don't have to try and search the tag/keep up with my tumblr if you want to find them

feel free to keep sending in prompts, I'm writing them all. It may just take a couple days for me to get to them because apparently i can't write anything under 1000k

Other Top Gun fics:

From The Ashes (HangmanxPhoenix, in-progress)

Not A Chance (HangmanxPhoenix, 36k)

Everything In Due Time (RoosterxPhoenix, 6k)

Dune Part Three Theory

(Dune part two and Dune book series spoilers)

I've been thinking about the end of Dune part two and how they had Chani walk away at the end. Paul says that he foresaw that at some point Chani would come back to him and would come around to what he is doing. I said in my review of the movie that I couldn't see how Chani would come back to Paul as they really do seem so broken at the end of the film, but then Paul saying he has seen her return to him gives that glimmer of possibility that she does indeed come back and I have a theory on how that may happen. Now just to be clear I have not read the books so this theory is based off the movies and the other adaptions of Dune (the 1984 film and the 2000 miniseries) that recently watched.

Personally I feel like it would have to be something fairly major in order to convince her to come back to him and after watching some other adaptions of Dune I got this theory, its a cliche one but I could see it working if written properly.

there's only one thing worse than an awful book, and that is an awful book with ONE tantalisingly compelling element

an awful book is nothing. You can put it down and never think of it again. An awful book with ONE idea that perfectly captures your imagination can chip your soul out through your eyes with every sloppy syntax error and gaping plot hole while you scream, unable to look away

The best part of the percy jackson books is that from percy's perspective hes just an easygoing funny cool guy who seems pretty harmless but the moment you see him from someone elses pov hes terrifying. Just a crazy good fighter, a force of nature killing machine, literally gets mistaken for a god in disguise. But he doesnt see that side of himself at all because hes too busy arguing with authority figures and respecting women. I love him

Hate (affectionate) how it's made so clear from the very beginning of part 1 just how loved Paul is by his family and household. Both his parents, Duncan, Gurney, Thufir, even Dr Yueh all clearly care so deeply for this kid, and we're shown that time and time again.

Cut to the end of part two, and almost every one of those people is gone. The only ones who remain are a weird, came-back-wrong version of Jessica, and Gurney who has gone from mentor to worshipper. Paul goes from someone deeply loved and valued for who he is by a small but caring group of people - to someone followed and worshipped and feared by thousands. They're obsessed with him in a way, as a leader and "messiah", but nobody loves him.

The only one remaining who loves him for who he is is Chani, who leaves him because in the end that love isn't enough to bring who he is back.
