Okay so when they get to Apollo in the PJO show he needs to make a joke about dodgeballs. Please uncle Rick it would be so funny.
Let’s talk again about how Hermes tells Percy in TLO that immortals can’t change and then Rick hits us with Bob and Damasen. And then after we’ve cried over “say hello to the sun and stars for me” he hits us with an entire series about people breaking out of the narrative where the protagonist is the god of prophecy.
Apollo, in a high voice, holding barbie: hey ken! I was thinking about going back to school and starting a career! Artemis, in a deep voice, holding ken: nonsense, barbie. you’re staying home and having my kids Hermes: what the fuck are you guys doing? Artemis: playing systemic oppression
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.
(He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother, The Hollies)
this is your friendly reminder that it’s canon that zöe nightshade said “not all men” while looking at percy jackson
jason really won the ally award of the year bc he does not only got a bisexual dad, a bisexual godly brother, a lesbian sister, a gay best friend but had also a ex lesbian girlfriend !! it doesnt get any more supportive than that! SPEAK VALENTINA !!
I think I’m in the minority on this but I’ve always loved how Rick Riordan never held firm on a timeline — that his books happen now whenever now is. That Grover plays Hilary Duff on his reed pipes in pjo and Leo references the Hunger Games in hoo and Nico makes a Montero joke in tsats and Percy roasts boomers in cotg. Because these characters are transcendent. They don’t exist in one place or belong to one time or cater to a specific generation. They’re adapting and changing as readers do (and as Rick does) to bring in new campers and nudge shoulders with long-time year rounders. It’s clever writing to keep evolving and let these stories exist across a wide plane to make the world expansive and welcoming without limitations. It’s just something I’ve always admired about the Riordanverse
Percy wears a “what would Percy Jackson do” bracelet
I was talking to my dad about renewable energy and he was like “the only problem with solar farms is they take up so much space.”
And it made me think about a city and how much sun exposure all the rooftops in a city get and…why not just make the city it’s own solar farm by putting solar panels on every rooftop?
There actually some really cool set ups for solar farms! Here's some examples
^^solar dunes and floating flowers!!
^^I'd personally replace this with a train line instead of a highway but yk
^^And hopefully this close to what your thinking off as well
We could have clean energy but can't figure out how to fit clean energy into cutthroat capitalism.
The whole system is built on motivating people through fear of punishment. You can't just ruin that by solving problems!
pjo series: a summary
Percy Jackson everyone.
Ever the charmer.
The guy who was stuck in a death labyrinth with 3 people, all of which had a crush on him. AND THIS IS HIS PICK-UP LINE???? HOW DID HE PULL 3 WHOLE ASS BADASS PEOPLE???
The worst part is that it fucking worked. THIS WAS HIS LINE AND IT WORKED!
For those who say that Percy is a simp for Annabeth, just remember that Annabeth is just as much a simp because girlie blushed.
Lorde does NOT get enough credit for singing “all the sad girls sing” on mood ring while Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo sing backup. Visionary. Hilarious. Groundbreaking
Don't stop talking about Palestine
I wanted to meme before the big day.
Not yet, Brutus.. not yet..
If any of you ever feel like what you're doing for Palestine isn't helping anything, I'll tell you right now it's helping me. I know it is fortifying all of us who have been in this fight for years to see so many people willing to speak up. It has never been like this before.
The tide has already turned. The fact that #free palestine will have new posts everyday, that helps me. It helps my mental health knowing that Palestinians are less alone now than ever.
Yesterday I read some verses from the Quran talking about how "the blame" is not with those who wish to help but cannot, but with those who CAN help and do not.
Truly I do not care if all you do for Palestine is post in that #free palestine everyday, that is still more than many people with the means to do even more would do.
We see you. We see you standing in solidarity with us and with Palestinians. We love you. Thank you.
I have to keep reminding myself that the point of collective action is that it's collective.
It's terrifying and demoralizing that nothing thus far has stopped or more than briefly paused the genocide.
But that's not a reason to stop trying.
If you can protest in person, do that.
If you can donate, do that.
If you can write your officials, do that.
If you can click once a day, do it here: https://arab.org/click-to-help/palestine/
And if all you can do is share, do that.
why did i only just now realize that the good witch starts with maisie saying she IS the iliad and ends with her saying that the men start wars yet troy hates helen?
like she literally opens the album by saying she is a long classic novel no one can read and figure out but ends it with the same story but highlights how no one can read it and that’s also the problem. because the men started the trojan war, and the iliad, but they still blame helen for it even though she was just kidnapped (in the most BASIC TERMS, i know the iliad is more complicated but just go with me)
like… it was right under my fucking nose????
her saying that the men start wars yet troy hates helen and how wendy will chose herself and lock her window but peter will throw his stones and call her a bitch and say it’s her fault.
like the iliad reference wasn’t just her saying that “i am a long complicated novel, of course you didn’t get me”. it’s her introducing the topic of the history of man from the beginning and saying that he didn’t get her from page one because that’s how the story of man goes.
but the difference is that in coming of age she’s taking back the narrative and trying to rewrite the story (when all i do is think about the past/make it a universe you can live in and i know i made you the BIG star/i let you butcher my big heart/but it’s my song and my stage and it’s my coming of age!) but ends it with openly admitting she can’t rewrite it. that no matter what she does the past is written and set in stone (not just the history of man but how their relationship happened and ended) and that she can’t change the past. just like how she’s been revisiting so many classic tales trying to find an answer to her heartbreak in them and realizing there’s nothing to do or change because this is simply how it goes…
baby, i am the iliad of course you couldn’t read me…the men start wars yet troy hates helen…i save you a seat and you say you want to stand
and so on
im just obsessed with the big 3 kids between 1939 and 1955. these are kids targeted by a prophecy that isn't theirs. kids who will be hunted by the gods if it means salvation for olympus. kids who could've been heroes and who were zapped down is a second flat. imagine cabin 1 and 3 slowly dwindling down in numbers while everywhere else in camp overflows during the war. imagine the relief of the children born in 1923 and before, just managing to escape the prophecy by a landslide. imagine those kids just going out to die in the war for their parents anyway. imagine chiron hoping that finally one of these kids will see sixteen only for them to die a month, week, day before their birthday. imagine the oracle of Delphi slowly crumbling into a corpse until her body can no longer host her life, but she's trapped to the land of the living anyway, cursed until another big 3 kid comes forth. imagine every other god trying to aid the children of zeus and poseidon in the hopes they'll train a hero instead of a ruiner, someone who can save olympus from the overhanging dread, only to have their chances stripped in a flash of lightning.
