[Video id: a man edited to be sitting in a jail cell, miming singing along to a song. There's black text at the top of the screen that reads "When being a Christian becomes illegal." The video cuts to the close up of a priest, where he starts angrily rolling up a newspaper. He smacks the camera about six times with the newspaper and starts quietly yelling and occasionally hitting the screen for emphasis.

"Stop it! Stop! Stop the whining and the sniveling right now! There are Christians in this world who are oppressed, yes. There are Christians in North Korea who can't go to worship without risking being thrown into a Gulag. There are Christians in Palestine who can't even get to their churches because of Israeli checkpoints and walls. You are not oppressed as a Christian in this country. Quit your sniveling whining! That savior you claim to serve said take up your cross and follow him and you're whining and crying because what? Because nobody's letting you treat gay people like shit anymore?! What the hell is wrong with you? Quit whining! Stop it!"

End id.]

I want an ice maker and enough room in the freezer for a pizza and that is IT.

I want the dumbest fridge you got. Gimme the orange tabby of refrigeration. I want my fridge to pull the wrong lever and turn my enemies into llamas instead of killing them. I want the following features: keeps things cold, has compartment that keeps things colder, a door that opens and shuts.

"Here at Stupid Jeff's Dumb Appliance Warehouse we sell the dumbest fucking appliances. Check out this fridge. This fridge won't ask you about your day, this dumb fucking fridge doesn't know what an Elon Musk is and won't fucking tell you what bullshit that dumb monkey is slapping into his phone today when you try to get some fucking milk. We took out all those "smart" electronics and in their place we put a loaded Glock 9mm that is put right up to that light that turns on when you open the door, which is the smartest thing in this fucking stupid fridge and let me tell you that fucker is on thin goddamn ice, if it gets too smart and tries to turn on before you open that door, the Glock will blow it to hell. Speaking of ice, this stupid fridge makes it. It makes ice, it keeps things cold, it comes with shelves. It's sturdy enough that when your ex comes back to your place looking for their stuff that they think they left behind like nine months ago and they know that you don't have it, but they wanted an excuse to come start a fight with you and throw a chair at your head but miss you and hit your fridge MICHAEL, this fridge will keep trucking because it gives zero shits and it only lives to keep things cold. Come to Stupid Jeff's Dumb Appliance Warehouse, if you ask us if we have an app, we break your kneecaps."

When I tell that I LOVE solarpunk

Oh, I remember this, the edit was done by youtuber Waffle to the left.

They didn't just cut out the parts with the oat milk, they skillfully edited over all the god-damn branding and replaced the audio.

But what I still find most hilarious about this whole commercial is the fact that everything they show in this solar punk world seems to be made with sustainable, zero waste and reusable materials.

Everything EXCEPT THE FUCKING CHOBANI BRANDED STUFF! The only plastic you see in this whole commercial is all the straight to the landfill packaging made by the very corporation that tries to sell how sustainable and "green" they are. Unintentional self satire at its finest.

They couldn't even show their yogurt and milk in (basically infinitely reusable) glass containers because they pretty much only sell their shit in plastic

It is such a perfect example of the true face of "green" capitalism, it's hilarious.

The punk in this solarpunk comes from cutting the corporation out of the picture

ALSO

Another really interesting thing about this edit is that they changed the label on the side of the apple-picking machine.

From "donations" to "commons". It's a subtle change, but it makes a huge difference in the world-building of the video. The former implies that this big orchard belongs to an owner and that they're donating the fruits to "the less fortunate" (and, by extension, that poverty is still a thing); the latter implies that the orchard belongs to everyone and that the fruits are free to take in the spirit of solidarity.

Waffle To The Left brought out the potential in this gorgeous video and made it an actual solarpunk utopia — without brands and without corporate pandering, complete with true common ownership over land and resources.

Two AIs; one who hates mankind and one who yearns for mankind's existence.

i turned the rough sketch into an actual render (i didn't want it to go to waste, y'know; it's a one-of-a-time idea). don't let sizes fool you, without the tight zoom, GLaDOS is massive compared to 2B.

as for the render itself, don't expect them to have a literal swordfight. these two would battle it out psychologically; 2B, knowing GLaDOS' existence and how she was created, would ask her numerous things about who created the genetic lifeform and what they were like. GLaDOS, on the other hand, would tell her they're "useless" and "the reason why i'm here right now".

these two would keep exchanging ideologies to the point where the things they're discussing simply cannot be comprehended by a mortal human.

"We keep making our service worse, cancelling shows before their time, hiking up the prices, and generally ruining what once was a decent product--piracy keeps wining somehow. 🤷"

You keep raising prices, cancelling shows we want to watch, making the service worse and generally making it a pain in the ass to even enjoy your product.

Yeah. Some of us remember what the world was like before you showed up and we're not afraid to go back to flying our pirate flags.

This looks insanely fun and insanely hard

[Video: a bunch of people in a room where the floor is made up of squares that light up. There is a border of green at the edges of the floor that they can safely stay in, red lines moving across the center that they can’t touch, and blue squares they have to step on to advance. The background audio is Maniac by Michael Sembello. End description.]

thinking about the potential for mech pilot body horror/dysmorphia. seeing something high above you or farther away than you can easily traverse with your own body and feeling a rush of vertigo, as though you should be able to reach out and touch it, or clear the distance in a single stride. after so long spent inside the mech that it's become like an extension of yourself, it can be difficult to adjust to being human again.

the mech adjusts to you, as well. pilots being uncomfortable with new or reassigned mechs isn't just a matter of personal preference. an old mech whose previous pilot is no longer fit for active duty (or no longer alive to undertake it) carries the muscle memory of that pilot in its own synthetic tendons, which protest against learning your own body's movements and shape. a new mech has to be broken in. it's like teaching yourself to walk again for the first time.

physical definition isn't all that remains, either. a mech can come to carry echoes of a pilot's consciousness, well-worn grooves of thought and memory imprinted onto its circuits. a mech that has been piloted by the same person for long enough can be said to develop a personality of its own, reflecting that of its pilot. and mechs that lost their pilots in particularly brutal combat can become haunted by ghosts in the machine, and react violently to the presence of a new body and mind in their cockpit, unable to accept anything different that tries to fill the emptiness left behind.
