Okay so I’m really enjoying the comic but I tend to get pernickety.
Based on the details given:
“Monster and Human = 50% Wizard 50% BossMonster
Monster and Wizard = 25% Wizard 75% BossMonster
Boss Monster and Human = 75% Wizard 25% BossMonster
Monster and Boss Monster = 50% Monster 50% Boss Monster
Wizard and Human = 50% Wizard 50% Human
DNA is not a factor as Monsters do not have DNA”
I came up with this system, based on haploids and diploids, for how you could get the correct ratios, but it makes a lot of assumptions (such as souls having built in redundancy) based on nothing that has actually been said. As a bonus, this chromosomesque explanation explains how damaging magic could make a wizard in the same way damaging radiation could destroy a chromosome.
I hope I didn’t go too complicated with this and overlook something obvious :/
I’m rather pleased with it as an explanation, and was going to suggest it if you didn’t already have a mechanism in mind. However, if you do I look forward to it :) I love attention to detail, and this comic already has some great lore!
Honestly I think a haploid and diploid based system came to mind since it was stated “Monsters do not have DNA”, this would in reality mean one of two things would happen with someone born from a human and monster:
a)somehow a clone of the human parent (maintaining diploidy)
b)entirely haploid (this would be a never seen case of aneuploidy). Assuming they could survive like this, they would likely have health problems and be infertile (though all males in eusocial insects (ants, bees, and termites) are haploid).
Sorry for going on incessantly… biologist :P
