Since you all like my Vulcans are Felines content, I thought I’d throw out some more ideas I’ve been thinking about:
“If it fits, it sits.” Vulcan toddlers have the same instincts as kittens and will randomly climb into boxes and hang out in tight spaces if they look cozy. They mostly grow out of it as adults, but once in a while, they’ll see a nice looking box and have to suppress the urge to curl up in it.
Vulcans are not arboreal, which usually doesn’t matter since the planet Vulcan isn’t really known for tall trees. But when they go to planets that have tall trees they’re likely to get stuck. They’re good at climbing up. Not so much at climbing down. Be ready with a ladder if your Vulcan ensign is traveling to a heavily forested planet for the first time.
Vulcans don’t like having water on them and most dislike swimming. Spock got some of his mother’s water-loving genes so he’s not as bothered by it and a decent swimmer (as we see in Star Trek VI: The Voyage Home). The rest of Vulcans aren’t too enamored with the idea of being submerged in water. For hygiene, they used to use sandscrubs in the old times, and now they mostly use sonic showers. It also helps that they don’t sweat.
the part about liking boxes and tight spaces just got me thinking about like. someone opening up a jeffries tube and finding a random vulcan officer on their break just sitting in there.
This is why Taurik is an engineer. So he can cuddle up work in the jeffries tubes.
I think Vulcans should also have the righting reflex, which is that thing cats do where they land on their feet by twisting around when they fall, and they just naturally know where to arrange their legs. This does require gravity to work.
So the ability to land on their feet with ease would just make humans think Vulcans are uncannily graceful, like cats, except if you’ve ever owned a cat you know that the grace is a lie. The righting reflex can fail, usually when a fall is short and unexpected. You know, like most falls are in daily life. When this happens, they manage to fit an impressive amount of spazzed out flailing into a split second or falling and it’s hilarious.
I fully support this headcanon
