Japanese Podcasts
I love listening to podcasts when I have the chance to sit down!
I thought it would be nice to make a list of podcasts that I’ve found and if you have any to share, I’d love to know who you listen to!
- JLPT Stories is probably one of my favorites, they rank their stories between JLPT N5 to N1 and give you the English translations, as well as the important words and phrases in them.
- SBS Japanese is technically “advanced” in that it features interviews, features, and community stories from Australia (and sometimes, internationally). The subjects they talk about are quite wide ranging and incredibly diverse, definitely my favorite!
- Tofugu is probably one of the more well known “podcasts” and geared more towards beginners!
- 日本語を大切にしたい。Slow and Polite Japanese is geared more toward intermediate and advanced learners but basically is what the title says it is.
- Podcast In a Tub - お風呂でポッドキャスト Lily Okamoto is a Japanese returnee (3rd culture kid) and talks about her viewpoints, awareness, feminism, et al in a mix of Japanese and English. Sometimes there are guest speakers!
- にほんごザッツ☆談 日本語・Nihongo・Japanese is made by a Japanese couple and geared towards intermediate and advanced learners but has tips on learning Japanese.
- Let’s Talk in Japanese is similar to JLPT stories! A Japanese teacher talks in Japanese and ranks them based on their JLPT level.
Also, check out nihongogogo and uni-venture posts that share other podcasts not listed here!
