The first rays of the sun had yet to cross the horizon by the time Hinata was up, dressed, and sneaking out of the house. There was barely enough light for her to find Neji beyond the tree line in the forest surrounding the town.

“Good morning, Hinata.”

The twisting of her stomach and racing of her heart that marked each interaction with Neji had gotten worse when he agreed, after much convincing, to call her by name. She could not temper the accompanying smile as she returned his greeting.

A love that was so strong and endless not even death, and a consequent marriage with *another* person, could kill off? The angst of remembering HIM each time she calls her kids, the fact that she keeps HIS journal as a treasure and reads it when she feels lonely. HE IS still the only fulfillment for her yearning heart. Poor girl found out too late, but as a wise fellow shipper wrote "who knows a thing about love at sixteen?"

In the end, Neji was right. Destiny exists. Destiny intertwined them inextricably. Destiny took them apart.

As cruel was their fate.

She will always be the only woman he ever loved, the only person who loved her the way she always deserved to be loved. And it doesn't matter the children aren't his. His blood is the same running through their veins because it's the same blood of their mother. And they carry on his name too, she made sure of it.
