There was an undeniable beauty that she radiated inside and out, and I consider myself incredibly lucky that I got to witness that up close even for the short period of time that I did. I was so intimidated by her, yet she had a way of disarming that just made you want to be around her, hear what she had to say (because it would undoubtedly be the sharpest and most real thing you would hear all day). She was kind and open to me when she didn’t have to be, when I was a naive, clueless and insecure newcomer. Bravely authentic, genuinely kind, incredibly talented and deeply loved by so many. Thinking of her family and loved ones. Rest In Peace, Naya.

I don’t really approach parts if there’s something relatable–mainly because if I was just going after parts that seem somehow relatable to my real life self it would just be consistently playing chronically insecure losers. Not exactly the best career in the world.

The time has come again when I get all mushy inside and tell you all how much I appreciate and cherish your presence in my life. Now, you might be wondering “hey, Nefeli, what’s up with that baklava? it has nothing to do with your tumblr theme’. Well, my friends, baklava is the dessert we traditionally serve on Christmas and New Years Eve where I’m from. My late grandma used to make it every year until the illness took completely over and she couldn’t remember the recipe anymore. So, now, first Christmas season without her, I wanted to kind of extend the tradition outside the family and treat you all to a virtual piece in honour of her memory, as she would have done with a real delicious piece if any of you happened to pass by our house these holy days.

To those who I feel closer to and have always been there for me: I feel very lucky to call you my friends. I’m sorry I haven’t talked to you much this year, but most days I felt like I didn’t even have the energy to hold a conversation. If we’ve even had one tiny interaction, know that I’m thankful for it and I consider you a friend. 💕💕
