Progress on the Halloween blanket... She let me crochet for a little while at least hahaha
It’s been awhile since I’ve crocheted. This is my most recent project... Making a Halloween blanket! For more info on pattern/yarn, see my other blog:
I’m gonna start keeping a log of what I do while I knit things for other people. I feel like it would really help get the point across as to just how long it takes.
Because when I say “I can knit a pair of socks in one week” most non-knitters seem to hear “I knit leisurely for a few hours every evening after work for a week” not “Making these socks seriously took me 7 consecutive days, knitting like a fiend for 6-8 hours each day”.
I’ll create a slightly passive-aggressive tag in a bold impact font that reads
“This pair of socks was made possible by these four movies, three seasons of this show and two seasons of this other one, two knit-and-bitch sessions, forty mugs of tea, and 15,000 knit stitches.”
and then maybe they’ll get it.
Crocheted these for part of my nephew’s first birthday gift! Scrubby yarn over those splash balls, pattern here: http://snappy-tots.com/pattern-scrubby-splashers/#_a5y_p=6278517
I got a jumpstart on Christmas/Birthday gifts for a friend! Tried out the broomstick stitch for the first time. It was slow-going at first, but once I got the hang of it the scarf went really fast. I forgot to take a close-up pic of the finished scarf, so on the left are the “make sure this doesn’t fall apart in the washing machine” strips to show a bit of the detail.
Made a shawl for my aunt! Just double crochet with Lion Brand Homespun Thick and Quick. The colors work so well together! Plus, it turned out super soft~
A friend of mine is going through a rough time medically... I wanted to make her a little something she could snuggle with during the recovery times. I’ve been really fond of the granny square style stitches, this shawl pattern delivered!
I went to a Kumihimo braiding workshop with my weaving-friend from work last month. It was a lot of fun and easy to pick up! The loom and disk can be bought here! This loom also has the instructions printed on the back. The weight was made by the woman running the workshop (it’s basically just a clip with a weight attached to keep up the tension).
My friend got me this amazing lace yarn for a present! I’ve never worked with lace yarn before, so I wanted something easy. I decided on a scarf with just a mix of single, double, and triple crochet stitches. It’s been a month or two since I started and I’m still working on it... working with lace yarn definitely takes more time and attention!
Second attempt at a no-sew blanket! I wanted a nice traveling blanket (and Wheat, of course, commandeered it for himself haha). Used the braided method this time, which was a bit quicker.
This was my second weaving attempt! I had read through Inventive Weaving on a Little Loom by Syne Mitchell and decided to try some tips out. The book was super helpful for a newbie like me. It also includes several patterns along with different weaving techniques. Great book if you want to get an intro to weaving!
