I’m gonna start keeping a log of what I do while I knit things for other people. I feel like it would really help get the point across as to just how long it takes.

Because when I say “I can knit a pair of socks in one week” most non-knitters seem to hear “I knit leisurely for a few hours every evening after work for a week” not “Making these socks seriously took me 7 consecutive days, knitting like a fiend for 6-8 hours each day”.

I’ll create a slightly passive-aggressive tag in a bold impact font that reads

“This pair of socks was made possible by these four movies, three seasons of this show and two seasons of this other one, two knit-and-bitch sessions, forty mugs of tea, and 15,000 knit stitches.”

and then maybe they’ll get it.

Made a pet blanket as a thank you to the vets and techs who took such good care of wheat during and after his surgery. It’s basically a single crochet square, haha, it was quite fun to make! Also Cali “helping” as usual...

Tried hand sewing again! Not the prettiest pouch, but it works :)

My mom liked that lapghan so much she wanted one for Christmas. Just half-double crochet stitches throughout. These are so much fun to make!

I got a jumpstart on Christmas/Birthday gifts for a friend! Tried out the broomstick stitch for the first time. It was slow-going at first, but once I got the hang of it the scarf went really fast. I forgot to take a close-up pic of the finished scarf, so on the left are the “make sure this doesn’t fall apart in the washing machine” strips to show a bit of the detail.

I managed to organize all of my yarn... which was quite a triumph! I wound the scrap pieces so I can use them for a scrap blanket. Again, Cali is “helping”, haha.

I went to a Kumihimo braiding workshop with my weaving-friend from work last month. It was a lot of fun and easy to pick up! The loom and disk can be bought here! This loom also has the instructions printed on the back. The weight was made by the woman running the workshop (it’s basically just a clip with a weight attached to keep up the tension).

Two hats from one of those Caron cupcake yarns I got for Christmas from my amazing mom. I made two “matching” hats so she could share in the hat-happiness. Simple pattern from the label and fun colors!

My friend got me this amazing lace yarn for a present! I’ve never worked with lace yarn before, so I wanted something easy. I decided on a scarf with just a mix of single, double, and triple crochet stitches. It’s been a month or two since I started and I’m still working on it... working with lace yarn definitely takes more time and attention!

Second attempt at a no-sew blanket! I wanted a nice traveling blanket (and Wheat, of course, commandeered it for himself haha). Used the braided method this time, which was a bit quicker.

A friend from work introduced me to weaving! This was the night I set up my new cricket loom and practiced for a bit. I definitely need more practice, haha
