Looking out to the river that Sorey gestured to, Lailah took in the sight with a smile. She’d seen these lands many times over, but it would simply never get old. There was a wonder to sightseeing, especially in the lands of Glenwood.

However, there was a more concerning thought at the back of her mind. She knew well that Sorey caught on, so there was no need to make a commotion about it. This outcome hadn’t been what she expected, though she welcomed him back with a smile, as she always would. “Though I may be stating the obvious… are you feeling alright?”, she queried, looking to him with a soft smile.

“It’s a burden on the body, after all. Let me know if you’d like to rest anytime, okay?”

Sorey brightens even more so as she comes to him, clearly ecstatic to be in the presence of a beloved friend. Maotelus, for the time being while emitting painful amounts of malevolence, seemed content.

Perhaps he was just being lazy.

His gaze is back to the river, watching the river flow with wonder. It was as if he had never seen it before, and perhaps because it was so long, it simply strikes a chord with him.

At her question, he leans back with a sigh and peers up at her.

“Nothing I can’t handle! I’m a little tired, but I’ll be okay! Have you been well Lailah? Zaveid and the others getting you into trouble?”

He’s used to the name being used as a curse, the days that blended together into one singular form until time itself meant nothing allowed for the forgetfulness of when his name being called meant something far more pleasant. It surprises him, hearing his name being called in an intimate sense, the feeling that washes over him completely foreign when in past times he would have embraced it warmly. It almost makes his stomach curl, & his head turns slowly over his shoulder to face the one who dared to call out to him.

What replaces dead features is one far more welcoming, for it was indeed a pleasant surprise to see his twin approaching him with careless steps. That smile was one he could say with honesty that he missed, his counterpart’s innocence a satisfying breath of fresh air amongst the stifling malevolence that he so normally drowned in.

The name of his twin rolls off his tongue with ease, the warmth that reaches his ears crinkling the edges of his eyes with the smile that follows suit. Reaching out with gentle care, he accepts the fruit that’s being offered. He wonders minutely if it will have a taste or simply the texture of sand on his tongue.

❝Sorey… It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? Apples? Sure, I’ll have one.❞

His own name is that of a legend, one used in many arguments and debates. To those who believed him to be a traitor to his people, others suggesting he had died to save them. Some had seen his phantom wandering this world, guiding the lost and wounded to their destinations. His apparition bore wings in some cases, burning darkness away with a glowing light.

Oh, but Sorey was so very real.. As was the entity dwelling within him.

“Mhm! It has been really long, huh?” He brings the remaining apple close to his chest, his smile as pure as the mantle he dons with pride. “I really missed you, y’know? But I guess Maotelus and I have been really tired, I don’t really remember the last time we were awake!”

Though, the force of purifying a tainted God had slowly been dissolving Sorey’s memory. Perhaps in time, he may not even recall his beloved twin. Yet for now, he is blissfully unaware of such an outcome.

“Have you been well? I really hope so!”

A groan left the male as he pushed himself to sit up, mind in a haze as he looked to the one that was speaking to him. “…why… are you in….” Soon snapping fully awake he looked around. “Wait- this… this isn’t my home! When… wh-when did…?”

He closed his eyes as he tried to recall the events before it but… He barely could piece anything together. “I-I’m fine… I just…. don’t know how I got here….” How did he get there..? “I thought I was home with my mother…” No… she’ll be mad at him. “I-I need to get back home! Mother’s going to be mad at me!” Yet… now that he looked at himself again…

The other appears disorientated, it’s one of the first things he makes a mental note of. He shifts away, trying to give him more space to come around but staying close that he could grab him if he’d suddenly dash off. In this state, running off alone would just make him a target for trouble..

“Hey, hey. It’s okay.” Sorey tries to reassure him with a smile, an awkward hand hovering in the air as he wasn’t sure if it was okay to touch his shoulder. “I’ll help you get home, but we should worry about you first. Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

“Thanks, but that’s unnecessary. I’m sure you have enough to deal with.” Despite the stir of his malevolence he perks up somewhat at the mention of Maotelus. Then considering again, droops a little.

Sorey may not be able to see through him, but Maotelus was a different story.

“Does he? Well I missed him too.”

Trying not to appear suspicious became difficult suddenly, and he tugs on his collar, much more dead set on looking away. | ☠️ |

The grimace to his offer is a little saddening, but Sorey doesn’t take it to heart. It’s better to simply be patient, and allow Eizen to open up to him in his own time.

“Not really, we’ve just been walking around and checking up on things. We can go as fast, or as slow as we’d like! Maybe you can join us for a little walk?”

Sorey smiles while Maotelus remains motionless within. He does not communicate with his vessel, or the surrounding world. He must be thinking about something.

“I’m sure he’s happy to hear that! I think he’s a bit tired right now though.”

Ugh, this day was turning into a living nightmare. It was late, he was drenched, and trouble had a way of finding him no matter where he went. At the slow crawl he was going, no way he’d make it to town before dark. But it wasn’t like he could camp out here either– part of the reason he got so slowed down was due to monsters picking him to be an easy target for food.

“!” Ludger pressed his back against the nearest tree, wishing not to get flanked by whatever he heard. wherever it could be. Though when it spoke again, he could narrow down it had to be above him. Not that this observation helped him all that much…

“I am, but…” I don’t know anything about you or this place, and I’m almost defenseless like this. “…who are you? And why help me?”

Sorey frowned lightly when Ludger hid himself, cocking his head ever so slightly. Was he scared? Well, it did make sense, maybe he really should be going with a different approach. He was so used to people asking for his assistance, even if they couldn’t see him. He even began helping those who didn’t even ask for it.

Maotelus is unresponsive to his question over if he should reveal himself or not, as if the ethereal being was in deep contemplation. Well, that meant he was to take matters into his own hands.

With little effort, Sorey jumps down from the trees. However, it’s less graceful than intended and he lands face first into a puddle. He gasped, sitting upright and grinning at Ludger.

“I’m Sorey! I just think it’s right to help those in need!”

| ☠️ | He avoids direct eye contact, preferring to keep the flashes of flames sparking in his clear blue eye to himself. The concern eats at him, and he suppresses a grimace, knowing it was only a genuine well meant query.

Eizen already owed so much to this one boy and his group of companions. He’d kept his malevolence in check for a millennia, and it was no different now.

“Nothing I haven’t handled before.” He more or less skirts around the question, rather than directly answering. It was no lie either, simply a truth to push aside any concerns that might be in place for him.

The malevolence burns inside him as if mocking his non-discreet choice of words. He grits his teeth down at it, and doesn’t say a word. | ☠️ |

His gaze softens, seemingly saddened by Eizen avoiding eye contact. It was a little worrying, but Sorey didn’t know Eizen as well as others. This could be normal behavior for all he knew, his knowledge was limited but he desires to change that.

The statement causes a light frown, before he moves his gaze upwards as he thought. It was something he’d say, if something was actually boring him. He shrugged, and his smile returns to his features.

“We’re here, if you ever need someone to lean on. I promise. Maotelus missed you, he wanted to visit.”

It felt right to offer explanation for why he has come here, of course Sorey wanted to visit as well.
