Beautiful red hen made out of chicken wire by Helen Godfrey Wire Sculpture i have seen this shared around chicken pages on facebook.

I really liked this hen so i went to the artists page and I am floored at the skill and beauty of these sculptures. Anyone who has built anything with the help of chicken wire knows that it is not an easy material to work with but this artist is able to make very realistic organic shapes with it. I love the softness, i love the wire people and how the wild birds use them as perches.

Mother duck with duckling

Runner beans, they are so funny and whimsical

Sculptures about to go to their new home, the hare and owl are amazing and the guineas look just like the real thing lol

A beautiful barn owl

A cute little wren

The wire women. I love how soft their curves are

Im so thankful that i got to see this artists work its so sweet.

Here is her store page but i dont think she has any new sculptures up yet.

if Broadway doesn’t want bootlegs floating around then they need to get their act together and make legal recordings.  you can say all you want that theater is meant to be enjoyed live, but the fact of the matter is not everybody can get to NYC to go to a Broadway show.  not everybody can afford to take the time off of work and buy a plane ticket to NYC and buy a night in a hotel AND get the ticket to the show.  people want to see the shows, that’s why there’s a bootleg market in the first place, but it’s unreasonable to expect that everyone has the time, money, and ability to make it out to the one place in the world to see something on Broadway, especially if it’s a limited engagement.  so record that shit, slap some subtitles on it, and sell it so we can buy it legally.

Reblogging this every time I see it. Copyright is important for creators but it should not support cultural elitism. Affordability and accessibility of cultural content is key unless we want to live in a very divided society.

The national theater live makes recordings of English plays, and I can watch them at my local cineplex for the same price of a movie ticket and watch an absolutely excellently filmed version of a great play. The metropolitan opera does the same. I would pay to go see a Broadway show similarly recorded, and there’s absolutely no reason at all why this can’t be done.

Planning my kiddo's birthday party and the age old hiccup has happened again. Somehow every year my dear, sweet, very numbers savvy husband briefly forgets just how many relatives we have between the two of us and starts suggesting we invite everyone. And then I remind him our house cannot withstand that many people and we say let's do multiple parties and call it a day.

pushing daisies really was a modern retelling of orpheus and eurydice in which they knew they wouldnt make it out of the underworld so instead they simply built a life together on the stairs

I always thought it was like an exaggeration when horse people would talk about how silly it was for anyone to think that riding a horse does not require any particular level of skill or balance or anything, or even that they "drive themselves" (???) but just the tags on the reblogs of that "can you ride a bike and/or horse" post from me alone are demonstrating how overconfident some people are in their (often entirely theoretical!) ability to stay on an alive and moving animal with a will of its own.

like don't get me wrong, I've put young kids on horses & seen younger ride them entirely on their own.

but I've also watched grown-ass adults do things like back a horse straight into a bush because they couldn't follow basic instructions like "stop pulling back on the reins".

and those are just the horses I trust with 8 year olds.

I just think the "horses are scary idiots who eat fingers and break all their legs whenever they see a plastic bag" website was very quick to believe themselves to be the wayward city girl who trauma-bonded with the wild & troubled horse on her family's ranch & won the race & saved the farm all before summer break ended.

is all.

yes Anna May I'm sure riding a horse is much easier than riding a bike. those idiot country folk just don't know what they're talking about. your bond with Serendipity will be strong & you will overcome his troubled heart with the power of fresh apples and transcendant horse empathy.

theoretically, of course.

unfortunately I am beginning to understand why horse girls are so defensive about riding being a "sport".

Hey weird question but what happens if you put two reasonably likeable anthropologists of wildly different cultures together in the same room? Do they study each other? CAN they? Is it like an infinite conversational feedback loop? I'm imagining two dogs eternally sniffing each others butts at the park
