Athena and her Buck-in-law
[Image ID: three images of Athena catching Buck doing something stupid and giving him her signature glare
GIF 1: In 2x13 Buck looks up from the phone he stole off Chimney when Athena busts him in the hospital.
GIF 2: In 3x14 Athena stops a speeding Buck on his way to Dispatch after she explicitly told him to wait at home. He asked her not to be mad which she doesn't even dignify with a response.
GIF 3: In 4x11 Athena rolls up with Lou in her patrol car behind Buck and Taylor stopping Buck from climbing into a dumpster to look for evidence. Buck looks like a child busted by a parent.

I think a lot about every time 911 shows us Eddie understanding a little more about Buck in real time…
(after cut because this got long but bare with me)
woke up thinking about a 9-1-1 cold open where Eddie wakes up in a rush because he overslept and then finds Buck already there, getting Chris ready for school, making breakfast and being all sunshine and he's like "Eddie, relax, it's your day off. I've got this," and Eddie is so overwhelmed with warmth and comfort and just gives him the softest look and leans in to give him a quick casual kiss and right before it happens
Eddie wakes up in a cold sweat, in his bed, next to Marisol, going "wha-"
Cue: an entire episode of Eddie having a silent life crisis while the rest of the Fire Fam is entirely oblivious

Eddie: the universe does not scream
The universe: *tsunami almost takes both Chris and Buck* *lightning traps Eddie in the well where he thinks if Buck and Chris* *sniper shoots Eddie in front of Buck where he has to roll under a fire truck and lift Eddie to safety* *lightning temporarily kills Buck and throws Eddie off the ladder*
*Buck and Eddie still not realising they’re in love*
The universe:
The universe: what the fuck do you want me to do next
eddie being supportive and reassuring to buck ↳ "isn’t that what we all want in a partner? knowing that they have your back?"

You’ve been friends with Maddie for a while now. You’ve met in nurse school, and even after she moved to another town with Doug, you still managed to keep in touch. After you found out about everything she’s been through, you’re really important in her recovery. You two were really inseparable now.
Being so present in Maddie’s life made you participate in the major events of her life. Her meeting and falling in love with Chim, becoming a dispatcher, and the best thing that could have happened in her life, Jee-Yun.
As time passed by you really became part of her family and with that being said, you became a very important figure in the big family that was 118.
They all loved you.
You were so caring, loving, willing to help anyone any time. Oh and your hugs, they were the best. And because you work in the hospital, it was quite common to bump into one of them between calls.
Although you were close to everyone, it was this pair of big blue eyes that always catch your attention.
Evan Buckley.

He just got Buck back. The lightning strike was only a few short months ago, he’s only been back at work for a couple of them. Eddie had finally stopped waking up with a pit in his stomach and the fear that Buck was still in that hospital bed in a coma with machines for organs and a tube for a windpipe.
He can’t lose him now.
Buck is pretty sure he’s never had a headache this bad before. It’s like someone stuck a balloon inside his head and started inflating it, the pressure unrelenting and forcing him to close his eyes against the pain.
“Buck, you okay?” He turns to look at Eddie beside him, his head swiveling on his neck and sending pulsing pain down his spine and through his forehead. He hisses, hands flying up to press fingertips into his temples in massaging circles. It doesn’t really help all that much, but it’s enough of a distraction to curb the pain at least a little bit.
“I don’t know, I have this headache,” he says after a moment, “I don’t get them too often but they’re really bad.”
Eddie frowns, his hand twitching like he wants to reach out but he doesn’t. Instead, he looks up to see their probie paramedic, Wayne, sitting at the table reading a book.
“Hey probie,” he stage-whispers, mindful of noise levels given Buck’s pain, “can you go grab Buck some pain meds? Like Advil or Tylenol or something.”
“Yeah, sure thing.” The young man stands up and heads down the stairs to the app bay, leaving Buck and Eddie alone in the loft.
