Do what you like, just credit me. Link shorteners, Simsdom/SimFinds and TheSimsResource are all bad. Pretty much everything I've made was using bits from others, so keep their wishes in mind as well.

USEFUL SOFTWARE FOR THE SIMS 2

[under construction, there's more to come]

This is a list of programs that will make your life easier if you're an avid Sims 2 player. Click on program titles to get download links.

SimPE The most known software for The Sims 2 that lets you edit package files. You can do basic stuff like rename a Sim, change family name, edit Sims' genetics as well as edit/create mods. Don't use if you have no idea what you're doing, watch a tutorial first or back up your neighborhood beforehand in case you mess something up! The newest version also has a terrain editor.

Sims2Pack Clean Installer The best program for installing downloaded lots and Sims. Those don't just go into Downloads, you need to install them!

Hood Checker This program checks neighborhood references and can clean out ones that are broken. Also useful for bringing back lost graves (it's still good to have NoUnlinkOnDelete).

HCDU Plus The Hack Conflict Detector Utility lets you scan your Downloads folder to check if you have any mods that edit the same aspect of the game, so can potentially be in conflict. Also useful to navigate which mods load first (load order is important for some mods to work).

What Caused This When you have 'testingcheats' on, the game gives you error messages if there's something going on. Not all of them mean there's a serious problem, but What Caused This can help you navigate what the source is. Upload the log file (Documents/EA/TS2/Logs) in the program, give it your Downloads folder and it will scan it to look for the culprit. Might give you straighforward information on which mod conflict caused the issue or that you lack Smarter EP Check for a mod that requires it.

Outfit Organiser You downloaded CC clothes that the creator marked as outerwear but you think they don't fit in that category? With this program you can quickly change that! It's also doable in SimPE, but Outfit Organiser is a lot easier to use.

CPack Editor If you want to make plastic surgery genetic, there's no need to do it manually in SimPE, especially if it's more than one Sim. In CPack Editor, you just choose your neighborhood's folder, run the program, and it changes ALL surgery faces in that neighborhood to genetic!

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR DONATIONS ON CHANGE.ORG DO NOT GO TO THE SUBJECT OF THE CAMPAIGN

That means that when you donate, it goes to change.org. Now, this isn't useless — it does mean that the petition gets boosted. However, you're pretty much doing the same thing by reblogging. I am concerned about people donating something like $40 dollars since I'm not sure if they realize it doesn't contribute to the legal fund or not.

I saw this without that last bit before. READ THAT LAST BIT.

I knew little about this option and used it only once. But recently I decided to study it and it turned out that it is very convenient: you can immediately see the result of your work without using BS or a game. At the same time, unlike specialized software, I do not need to learn a new interface, and all the usual brushes and functions are available

If you are interested in how to use 3D features in Photoshop, I recommend this tutorial, it helped me a lot:

3D features worked in Photoshop versions until July 2024, after which they were removed

Tutorial: How to Create Custom Service NPCs

Just a quick little tutorial for neighborhood creators who would like to fully customize their neighborhoods! ^^

By the end of this tutorial, you should be able to do things like these!

For this tutorial, you'll need: * SimPE 0.75_69 * Alt Sim Surgery * Christianlov's Gussy Up plugin (you can find it in this archive) OR InSimenator (which has the Temporal Adjustor which you can use to fix the sims' appearances)

Click here to read the tutorial! I hope you found this tutorial helpful and let me know if it worked for you! Good luck! <3

P.S. This is precisely how I customized the NPCs in my neighborhoods projects as well, including Sedona, Quadington University and Aileen Landing. :)

Update (01/01/2025) !!

With April Black's recent discoveries about sims corruption, especially with respect to whether or not NPCs are safe to play as, it has been discovered that creating custom NPCs is actually way easier than we all thought!

Plus, with Chris Hatch's updated SimPE (0_77_69), NPC creation has never been easier before!

So first things first, credit goes to all these amazing people who helped within the sims community and discovered new stuff up to this day! It's crazy how new things are still being discovered well after 20 years from the release of a 2004 game!

Here's a link to read the tutorial using the New CAS method of creating custom NPCs.

The Old Make-Over method is just as fine as well if you created NPCs this way, but I'd recommend using the newer method, as it's way simpler and faster. Plus, it also allows you to use pre-existing sims in your neighborhood to be NPCs.

You can also see, this magically gives your sim all the special NPC characteristics. My custom Drama professor suddenly fell in love with everyone she's just met... as she should!

Hope this is helpful! :)

Happy New Year everyone!! <3

Hey sim 2 players there has been news that vegan-kaktus's uploads have also been compromised i know thats a sims 2 archive thats trying to preserve S2 cc from being lost

Can anyone confirm that vegan-kaktus has also been compromised? Do they have .exe or .bat file extensions do they have zips that get flagged when downloading?

As always be safe while checking have your anti Virus running while doing so.

FUCK what really???? I’m so out of the loop, I did change my password when I heard about sfs and I have so many files to check I haven’t had the time to check them all (currently working two jobs (both day+night) and at the same time studying two courses (yeah I’m slowly withering away). I’m so sorry I don’t have the time to go through all my files but please don’t download my files from sfs as of now if this is indeed true! I have MTS/MEGA/MF alternative links on 98% of my downloads so choose them instead. As for packrat, I’m so sorry, I only have sfs links there and I don’t have time (or space) to host them all somewhere else.

Also, thank you so much @grilledcheese-aspiration for tagging me! And if anyone has any info on what files in particular has been affected, please do let me know :-(

Please be cautious if you download from any of my (or others) sfs links! If your browser is warning the archive is unsafe, listen to it and don’t download it. Remember ts2cc only comes in .package or .sims2pack files!

In light of politics coming out of the UK, USA, and many other countries lately, I thought maybe I should just post a reminder that transphobes are NOT welcome on any of my blogs. I don't care if you like the subjects I post about. If I catch you, you will be blocked. I fucking hate you and hope you either change or suffer consequences of your bigotry.

And to any fellow trans people reading this, especially trans women: You are loved.

Hey everyone it seems there a malicious individual trying to hack the sims cc community again and fill it with malware you need to stay vigilant as a creator and a downloader so

i have some tips for both to stay safe while downloading:

1- sims cc file extension is always .Package never download anything that is .exe

2- do not auto unpack zip files and rar files into your mods folder directly, open each zip or rar individually check the file extensions and drag them to your mods folder one by one

3- the only mods that have a .ts4script extension are ones that affect gameplay or how the game works, understand that if you are downloading cas or bb items you shouldn't have a .ts4script file

4- if you are downloading gameplay mods that do have .ts4script make sure that A) the creator hasn't announced on their pages that its infected B) you are downloading from a link provided by the creator of the mods themselves not something off of google or a link you got sent and make sure dates of upload match dated of announcements

5- if the mod or cc creator has retired and hasn't posted for a while LOOK AT THE DATES OF THE UPLOAD if it has been "updated recently" after the creator has left the community its most likely re-uploaded by a hacker and infected

6- download mod gaurd by Twisted mexi and keep it updated and keep your windows defender or malware detector Program up to date and always running do not disable it

7- make sure everything you download comes from a direct link from the cc creator, in this day and age do not trust link shortners, adfly, linkverse, etc get the universal bypass extension and ublock extension to stay safe but genuinely NEVER CLICK ON THOSE no matter how much the creator reassures you its safe it. is. NOT.

8- this is more of a general saftey precaution but, create a system restore point weekly before you run the game with new mods that way if anything happens you could have a chance to restore your windows to an earlier date before you downloaded anything.

9- BACK UP YOUR SHIT im serious right now either weekly or monthly put your files somewhere safe like a usb a storage card a hard drive even an online cloud if you dont have any of the previous.

10- files you should back up are your media from games and media everything else, any mods, games saves, work files, passwords, saved bookmarks, any documents txt files word files pdfs, links you saved, brushes or actions for Photoshop if you have any, any digital bills or certificates if you have any, and keep a physical list of all programs you have installed and where you installed them from

11- turn on any 2 factor authentication and security measures for any account you have

12- google and firefox have the option to check your paswords and emails against any data leaks USE THIS FEATURE and change any leaked passwords

13- regularly check your logged in sessions to make sure all the logged in devices or computers are yours and log out any that aren't and any old devices or unused sessions do this for every website and app you have an account on if available

14- change your passwords often. I know this is a hassle i know its hard to come up with new passwords but changing your passwords every few months will help you against anything mention previously that wasn't detected.

15- and as a cc creator check your cc and the accounts you host cc on and its uplaod and update dates make sure nothing has been changed without your permission :(

16- generally try not to get swept up in the "i must get it" fever you do not need to "shop" for mods weekly or monthly you do not need to download everything by that one creator you do not need to download new cc everytime you want to make a sim, im guilty of this so i know how hard it is to resist but take a breath and think "do i want this or do i need it" before downloading.

These are prevention methods i cant claim they are 100% will prevent any hacking but its better to be safe than sorry and these do keep you safe so

Brought to you by someone who has had their laptop ruined and data leaked from downloading cc once upon a time

This post is about TS4, but has a lot of good advice for simmers in general.

Compromised Accounts on SFS

At least two creator accounts on SimFileShare are compromised (SimAndy, TheNinthWaveSim). Downloads may include executable .bat and .exe files (which obviously CC should not!!). For now, consider not downloading from SFS.

I had someone reblog my post saying a pose creator called sws is also compromised

As far as I can tell mine is fine. The last upload I made to SFS was Apr 2 and I have not updated any files since then - if I do, I’ll post about that here. If you see anything updated since then on my files let me know. All my downloads are also mirrored on MF!

How To Dreamwidth: A Primer

the more friends ask me about dreamwidth, the more i realize i know a lot about this site that isn’t super obvious at first glance. so here is a primer for those of you thinking about making a dreamwidth account. this post ranges from your really basic starter tips to the completely esoteric things that come from using it for a decade.

2023 note: This post was written in 2018. While most of this post is still true, various features may have been changed or updated in the years since.

a what now? dreamwho?

Dreamwidth is a code fork of LiveJournal. A code fork means that they took LJ’s code (which used to be open source) and went their own direction with it. They still use the basic ideas behind LJ’s codebase, but have changed and improved upon it in various ways.

The core difference between DW and other websites is privacy isn’t an afterthought, but the central feature. You can lock posts, filter them to a select group, or make them visible to only you. I recommend reading through this section of DW’s FAQ for more on this.

When you make an account, you can subscribe (ie follow) and grant access to other users. Both of these are one-way – if A subscribes to B, that doesn’t automatically grant B access to all of A’s locked posts. Here’s more on this.

DW in general can be kind of confusing for people who have only used tumblr, but their FAQs are pretty good on the whole, and they’re searchable. If a website feature is confusing, start there.

okay, i have a journal. now what?

Customize it! DW doesn’t have all the latest and greatest features, but you can still make it your own. Here are some useful tips.

  • You can change your layout from Organize > Select Style. Mobile support is hit or miss, unfortunately, but there are some nice default layouts that work with it. You can also use this style for Practicality which makes DW fully mobile-friendly. If you’d rather design it yourself, Tabula Rasa is completely stripped down.
  • You can get premade DW layouts at the dreamwidthlayouts community. If you have trouble with your code, ask over at style_system.
  • Edit your profile! This is where you put your usernames for other social media sites, tell people a bit about yourself, and mention your interests. Your interests will be part of the interest search; it’s one way to find people.
  • Upload icons! Free accounts get 15 icons; paid accounts get 100 icons, premium accounts get 250 icons. You can use one icon in each entry and commment you make. It’s good form to put the maker of the icon in the comment section if you didn’t make it. If you got it from someone on tumblr, you can even link their blog using the code <user name=username site=tumblr>. (This works all across DW!)
  • While you can’t make pages, you can set a post to stick at the top of your journal, much like Twitter’s pinned tweets. Here’s how to do it.
  • You can also change how Dreamwidth itself looks, if you don’t like the red. Go to Account Settings > Display. Most other site display preferences are on that page.
  • While you’re here, look through the Account Settings > Privacy page. By default, your public entries will be included in site searches. You can turn it off at the bottom of the page if you want. You can also set it so your entries are automatically access-locked or private as well.

This got very long so the rest is behind the cut. (Now you really know I’m legit.)

My CC is trans, and if you put it in your game, your game is now trans. Thems the breaks. That goes for hair retextures, object recolors, literally anything that I make, I make it from a position of gender inclusivity, and love for my community. Someone else using my resources to make their own CC? Still trans. You cannot separate my content from my inherent transness. I love you trans women I love you trans men I love you nonbinary people I love you people who are so gender and people who are no gender and people who are some gender and people who are indifferent to gender. My blog is for you, my CC is for you, and for those who love and supports us.
