I don’t think I need to introduce this video, it’s the video that all of a sudden made me “famous” among crossover editors, the video that went viral, one of the first if not the first in the non/disney crossover community to reach those numbers!

I had been an editor for almost 4 years already when I made Golden Blonde and Jet Black, I had gained some experience and on some aspects, I’m still proud of the video… mostly for the story, cause I can count the thousands of mistakes I made!!!

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t consider it a great video, there are tons of better videos made by better editors, but I guess that the story was what made it so famous: I remember that back then there were already many editors that edited with slash and femslash but it wasn’t as common as nowadays and the videos were often filled with angst or were really short.

Many guys told me that this was like a clean and nice fairy tale featuring two main gay characters, something you don’t see very often (to be really precise, I made this video before Steven Universe was even released!), and that’s what I’m still proud and happy about.

Still…. this video, reaching this numbers, attracted a lot of attention… both positive and negative.

I want to start saying, there are countless of great comments under the video, so many people supporting me and its message, so many people being terribly nice and kind, but there are also… almost as many hateful comments xP

I rarely if ever reply to comments, mostly cause I’m freaking shy and I take HOURS to write even the shortest comment on YT, but I receive comments on this video on a daily basis, and… well, when certain comments are repeated over and over… it does get a bit on my nerves.

So I decided to make this “wall of shame” of some of the most representative bad comments I got. This is just a small part of the total, but it gives an idea.

I skipped all the “this is fake” and all the “vampires can’t be in the sun” comments, even though there are TONS, but… well, those “geniuses” are harmless.

I also didn’t add the comments that criticised my editing: I still believe that you must be a bit of a prick to shit on someone else’s work, and everyone could use good manners, but I do believe the video is not worth defending editing wise XD

I also didn’t add the comments in spanish or other languages, but there are TONS in spanish, and even though I don’t speak spanish, the language is close enough for me to see that more than half of this comments are… not very nice… we can sum up the content of most spanish haters in: “you stole 8 minutes of my life, give it back” and “you’re a whore” or a “gay whore”.

Which is… actually hilarious, seeing how I’m actually an asexual, aromantic virgin! I never bother to reply to who just assumes I’m a lesbian cause I honestly don’t care and take no offence in it, but still… it is kind of funny!

Another kind of comments that’s missing is the “death treats”, mostly cause I deleted almost all of them… now I wish I didn’t, but yeah, death treats were what made me close the comment section under the video for a couple of years.

So yeah… I don’t wanna complain about the success of the video, that’s far from my intention, but I think I needed to vent a bit about those comments, so here you have it!

ps: fun fact about the video: the name ‘golden blonde and jet black’ was totally random, I still look at it and wish I could change it but I don’t even know what to name it XD 

This is definitively worth a read-through. Especially if you believe gay rights and homophobia is no longer a big issue. This was just 4 years ago, and the comments keep pouring in like we’re all going to Hell (well, to an atheist like me that’s not a huge threat, but still). *sigh* The world has a long way to go...

I feel like the reason certain dog-lovers insist cats are evil is because they read their body language as if they were dogs. So here’s a very basic guide to common “mean” things cats do that actually aren’t mean at all if you know what they’re thinking.

Rolling and exposing belly- attacks you when touched Does not mean: Give belly rubs! - haha I tricked you!  Actually means: I’m playful! If you reach for my belly I’ll grab your arm and bite it because I think we’re playfighting! 

Lazily exposing belly - still attacks when touched Does not mean: tricked you again! Actually means: I’m showing you my belly because I trust you. Please don’t break that trust by invading my personal space. I might accept a belly rub if I’m not ticklish and I know you well. Snapping at you while being pet Does not mean: I suddenly decided I dislike you! Actually means: You’re petting me in a way that gives me too much restless energy. Please focus on petting my head and shoulders instead of stroking the full length of my back next time.

Is in the same room but makes no attempt to interact Does not mean:  I’m ignoring you Actually means: We’re hanging out! I’m being respectful by giving you space while still enjoying your company. Slapping/scratching your hand when you try to pet them Does not mean: I hate you! Actually means: You’ve failed to establish that we’re not playing, or the way you’re approaching me scares me. Be calmer, speak more gently, make eye-contact and blink slowly at me before you try again.

I love this post omg, thank you so much. As a lifelong cat person, dogs perplex me because they’re so completely different behaviourally.

Somehow, the post still makes me think cats are jerks or at least, shall we say, less tolerant than dogs? I’m not a cat hater, not one bit, I adore them, but they do demand a lot more finesse and thought than a dog does because a dog seems more accepting of whatever its human does than a cat does 😂

So I’d say it’s in a way easier to own a dog than a cat? Cause a cat is a lot more independent and will do whatever it needs to do to make sure you stop whatever you’re doing that is bothering it. While a dog is more likely to either just accept it or make you stop in a different way like growl at you or whatever 😂

Again, not a cat hater and my reblog shouldn’t be regarded as me attacking the OP or their post, just throwing my thoughts out there with no ill intentions 😊

Hey Aira, I hope you won’t mind if I reply to your comment :) I get your point of view, but I believe that your perception of cats and dogs and their way to interact has a lot to do with your personality: for instance, I find interaction with dogs tiresome and harder, I grew up with dogs but found out a few years ago I’m a hardcore cat person, and the interaction with cats is a lot easier for me, more fullfilling and more natural, maybe cause I share many points in common with hiw cats behave xP I have no troubles believing that for you it’s the contrary, my brother is a dog person too and as much as he likes my cat he doesn’t find the interactions with him satisfying, at least not as satisfying as the interactions with his dog. I think it just shows there is no better or worse pet, just… what’s better for you :) I know your comment had no ill will, and neither does mine, so… hope you won’t mind it x3

I believe you are right; your own personality definitely makes a difference for which pet you prefer, both when it comes to cats versus dogs or any other pet Cx

A funny side note you made me think of with your comment: one of my friends once upon a time told me about some article she found about how cat lovers tend to be more on the masochistic and submissive side and dog lovers tend to be more sadistic and dominant.

I don’t know if I believe it, but when I think about the people in my life and who prefers cats or dogs it kinda matches. The cat lovers I know seem to be more patient and understanding while the dog lovers tend to be more strong-willed and self-dependent.

I mean, the article could be right in the sense that if you prefer a dog you might prefer or more submissive companion and is therefore more of a dominant person yourself. I don’t know, but I find theories like that fascinating 😂

That’s actually a very interesting theory!!! :O I can’t say it matches 100% every cat-person and dog-person I know but… as a general isea I can definitely see some truth in it!!! I can say I can definitely recognize something of myself and my brother in the 2 profiles xP and I agree, it’s definifely a fascinating theory! :D

I just want to add a few things: 1. A cat wagging its tail means it’s overstimulated and stressed. At this point it is begging to be left alone, which is something dog people don’t tend to understand, seeing as how they’re used to wagging = good. 2. A cat will give PLENTY of warnings before it potentially scratches you. Just like a dog will growl and bark. A cat just does it more subtly. Its ears will turn back, its eyes open up, its tail wagging. If you ignore all of those signs, and the cat feels like it is literally screaming at you to leave it alone, you can’t blame the cat for giving you a hint you can’t ignore and lashing out. Any cornered human would do the same if the other person point blank refused to listen to / understand “Please leave me alone”. Other than that, pick whatever pet suits you xD I grew up with both cats and dogs and love both dearly, they both have their charms. I just feel a much closer connection with cats. As long as all animals are respected and treated fairly, I am a-okay xD

In addition: Declawed cats develop behavioral problems due to their pain and discomfort. For example, most will stop using the kitty litter, because it hurts to walk on it, and thus will pee elsewhere. This results in most declawed cats ending up at shelters. So what people are really doing is getting a cat --> mutilating said cat --> abandoning the cat. This is NOT okay.
