get a new tarot deck? here’s a few notes

as its the holiday season, a lot of people are getting tarot as a gift or something of the sort. here are some things that i’ve learned from my time reading tarot!

  1. the first spread isn’t going to be perfect when you first get your tarot deck, not only are you getting to know it, but it is getting to know you. it doesn’t know your reading style and personality right off the bat, so give it time. do a few more spreads, and you’ll notice it begins becoming more and more clear. never give up on your deck right away or immediately think you don’t suit each other.
  2. do an interview of the deck there are all sorts of spreads for this! when you first get a deck, do an interview. ask it about its self, ask it what its strengths and weaknesses are, what your bond is going to be like, things like that. not only does this help it warm up to you, it also helps you practice reading the cards. jumping into fortune telling right away can be very difficult and you could get very frustrated.
  3. treat it like it’s alive (because it kinda is). every tarot deck is unique and has its own personality and special skills. (for instance, i have 3 decks. one is very gentle and is good at personalities, another is very sarcastic and straight forward, and is good at fortune telling, the last is very motherly and good at guidance.) treat your deck with kindness. never throw it, never be aggressive with it, don’t get mad at it because all of these things can wreck your relationship with your deck.

I hope i helped some tarot “newbies” or even some who have already have tarot cards! feel free to add to this if you have guidance as well! :)

baby witch needs help?

More like i have a question.

Since I’ve gotten tarot cards my mom has been joking around that you shouldn’t do readings for yourself and I wanted to ask if anyone knows why, where it originated from, and if there’s any truth to it?

I've found the best way to practice is to do self readings!

Remember This

When asking a tarot reader for a free reading, it’s something that they do out of the goodness of their hearts as a gift. When you get pushy or rude, it’s not only hurtful and disrespectful, but also belittles their gift. Even if you asked a week ago, you aren’t entitled to their time and energy.

It’s like if someone was giving out dollars and said “Here. Sign this list and when i can i will give you a dollar. But you have to be patient with me because i need food and have bills to pay.” And then people coming back and asking “are you still broke?” “Wheres my money?”

They don’t owe you anything. That money isn’t yours. It’s a kindess.

Tarot readers don’t owe you a reading. If they haven’t gotten to it, there’s probably a good reason and you pushing only causes further stress.

Moral of the story? Be kind and patient while waiting for a gift from a free tarot reader.
