I always imagined the sparkler scene from the POV of Victor’s phone that is set up to record/take pictures of them. He eventually picks it up and starts taking pictures himself, and that’s where we see some of the most beautiful images of Yuuri in the entire show.

Yuuri is convinced that he’s average in everything, especially looks, compared to his super-star, model fiancé. The unreliable narrator model of YOI is so fantastic, because within just a few frames of the end credit, we see how truly stunning Yuuri is and it’s through Victor’s eyes.

The Quad Flip

So let’s assume that there are 5 quads that skaters can realistically do: toe loop, Salchow, loop, flip, and Lutz (in difficulty order).

When we meet Yuuri, he can do a toe loop consistently and kind of a Salchow, but that’s it. Victor on the other hand can do all five of the quads. (He does a Lutz in his free, and apparently did a loop in an exhibition according to JJ).

Why does Yuuri choose the flip as the third quad to master? The loop is easier and the Lutz is probably a higher score/difficulty.

Yuuri chose the flip because the only person on Earth that can do the quad flip is Victor.

We hear about Chris doing the Lutz, as well as JJ. We know Seung-Gil and Emil (and JJ) can do the loop. Victor is the only one doing the flip.

If Yuuri masters it, it is a true testament to his love for Victor. Because he is mastering a move that at the moment, only he and Victor would be able to do. It would be the ultimate thing that they share.

Yuuri always does declare his love on the ice before he declares it in person. Doing the flip in Beijing was not just a “let’s show Victor I can do another quad!”, it was so so much more. It was “I am going to show Victor that I love him so much that I will become the only person on Earth who shares this with him.”

No wonder Victor could not hold back anymore and planted that smooch on his beautiful katsudon.

As a fandom, we've NOT capitalised on these lil tidbits-

as much as we should have.

Yuuri's keyboard in particular is interesting to me. It's a fairly large one too and not the beginner's instrument you buy to tinker around with unless you're serious about the thing.

I am just saying creative people, which Victor and Yuuri clearly are, rarely confine themselves to one art form. I am fascinated with the idea of baby Yuuri figuring out what his favourite triad is and then developing a cute little tune from there.

Songwriter Yuuri x Poet Victor AU when? Maybe I should write it myself.

Yesss, it’s finally here! Yuuri Katsuki’s VA, Toyonaga Toshiyuki singing History Maker at the first Yuri on Concert in November 2017!

(Tell me if Avex strikes the video down and I’ll find a way to get it back to you because all yoi fans deserve to hear this!)

As some of you might have noticed, yes, he does indeed yell “Victor! It’s me!” at the start when he goes on-stage haha.

Also this is just me being a language nerd but I’m really impressed with how he pronounces “truth” - th is super difficult for non-native speakers. In general, I think he actually champions through this entire song, I don’t think I’ve ever heard him sing this much in English and yeah, it’s not easy, especially for most Japanese people, and he just goes for it. What a champ.

Also I love the way he sings the chorus, like the way he sings “We were born to make history” is even better than Dean Fujioka’s in my opinion haha. Honestly, this is such a blessing, I’m so glad we’re finally getting to hear Yuuri (’s voice) sing the iconic song, and I really really hope he’ll get to sing the next theme song for the anime (though this is obviously just my wishful thinking haha).

His version is even more powerful than Dean Fujioka’s and I love it

I KNOW RIGHT. I think it’s the fact that he’s clearly having a lot of fun, and he’s also backed by a huge orchestra, and he’s generally a great singer and he also voices the main character which really comes all together to give the performance a lot of power and meaning and I love it so much.
