the most tragic thing about being back from overseas is that my grid will never look this sexy again

i use spotify too much these days (unfortunately) and have been recently coming back to some old mountain goats songs not on that platform. i had almost forgotten about this gem. it's called "counting song for bitter children".

Audio transcription: John Darnielle sings and plays guitar.

[spoken] Okay, let's try this.

[guitar starts and the rest is sung]

One, two, I don't love you Three, four, anymore One, three, stay away from me Five, seven, good children get nothing

I hate the dog-ification of werewolves >:( I by making them happy dumbos it misses the best part of transformative monstrosity: repression. If you aren't afraid of the beast within what's the fucking point. It's the big bad wolf lurking on moonlit nights it's not your golden retriever in the park at noon. Justice for repression!! Justice for the beast within!! Justice for the fear of who you could be if you really let loose! Is the monster your true self? Does the thrill of the wild outweigh the guilt that comes in the light of day, when there's mud on your feet and blood on your hands? What does it mean that you crave that which disgusts you, that the wolf isn't just something you become, it's something you always were

A small thing that bugged me... why did Aziraphale have to reference a Bible? Wouldn't an angel kind of have that memorized?

Avatar

I don’t think any of the angels we meet in Heaven have read the Bible, except to look through it for the bits they were mentioned in and (in Sandalphon’s case in particular) to grumble that they aren’t in there by name.

Aziraphale tends to regard the Bible fondly, but not authoritatively. Remember, he was there.

In the book we learn that Aziraphale owns

the original scroll in the shaky hand-writing of St John the Divine of Patmos, whose ‘Revelation’ had been the all-time best seller. Aziraphale had found him a nice chap, if a bit too fond of odd mushrooms.

And it’s a verse from the Revelation that Aziraphale is checking. So that’s a no on knowing the Bible by heart.

Aziraphale has memorized the Winnie the Pooh books, several Georgette Heyer novels, and Bobo’s Modern Coin Magic, though.

I started junk journalling and a kitten picture became the a spread about my mental illness journey and like. Does it make sense? Hm probably not but does it matter? Who cares?

I’m going to the U.K for a month at the end of April. Tickets are getting booked on Friday. And in typical me fashion, I’m already worried about how my mum will cope babysitting the cats and what to pack and how I’ll store a giant suitcase, which I don’t yet own, when I’m back. But I haven’t even actually got my passport yet, which I really need to organise. But like. I’ve already started planning what clothes I’ll take and fretting over what books to take on the plane with me. Bc priorities.
