Frequently Asked Questions
Generally, how will the bang work?
In general terms, there’s only five steps for the event:
- Writers come up with an idea and submit it through a google form
- Artists and Betas will gain access to a spreadsheet and pick their top three submissions based on what the writers have submitted
- We look at what has been submitted and make groups out of it.
- the groups work together to create a project that has at least a fic that has 10k words and one finished artwork
- Everything is then published close to one another so that we get a ‘bang’ on content.
What are the minimum requirements?
For writers, the minimum word count is 10k, and for artists the minimum is at least one compete artwork and to the standard of your regular piece. For Betas, there’s not a minimum per say, since their roles are very dependant on the group they are with
Can I join the server, even if I don’t plan to join the bang?
Of course!!! While the bang is a large part of the server, there are channels for conversations that are slightly off topic, like for ships, fanfics and fanart outside of the bang, and even genera lounges
Who are the mods?
What about the previous drama?
I’m not going to go into detail about it, but you can find out our stance here or message us privately!
What counts as art?
We are counting art as anything that is visual and fanmade. This incused things from traditional and digital fanart to things like animation, cosplay and more! However, if you are planning to use a different media form then please Iet us know during the check in so we can make sure that everything is up to date ^-^
What does a beta reader do?
A beta reader is someone who basically helps the writer by proof reading their fic by being the first person to read their fic. They help out with things like spelling, grammar, plot and other issues that writers may stumble upon.
Can I write LU content? What about crossovers?
Yes! You can write just about anything as Iong as it’s about LoZ and it isn’t NSFW. We wiII be accepting works that have an explicit rating in terms of graphic violence and such, just nothing sexual for this bang
Outlines? How will they work? Do I need to use them?
When it comes to the submission, an outline is used for the match ups with betas and artists so they know where you’re going with your fic and if that’s something they want to work with. However, that doesn’t mean you have to follow it in your own writing, and you don’t even need to stick with it if you decide to go in another direction with your plot.
The outline that we ask for will be a very detailed summary of what will happen in your fic, but we will be asking for more details surrounding your fic, like, for example, main characters, pairings (if any), rating and any warnings so that the artists and beta readers are able to make the best decision possible.
How are the match ups going to work?
First, we are going to ask for writers to submit an outline/summary of what they’re going to write This information wiII then be put into a spreadsheet and be anonymised for the Artists and Betas to look through Artists and Betas wiII then be asked to pick their top three, and rank them by how much they want to work with them. After that the mods will pair the groups together. The groups will have 1 writer, 1-2 artists and 0-1 betas.
How are the check ins going to work?
There wiII be another Google form for you guys to fill out, and the questions will vary by what roe you have and what check in it is These are just to make sure that everything is on track for posting in June, so don’t fee bad if you’re running sIighty behind or anything
What if I need an extension?
If you need an extension, then please et one of the mods know as soon as possible. We’re not going to get mad with you if you do need one or have a go at you for using them. This event is supposed to be fun, not stress inducing.
What if I need to drop out?
Pease understand that this bang is a commitment While it is fun, there are people relying on you to put work in so that this project is the best it can be! However, we understand that not everything in life is expected and you may need to drop out for reasons that are out of your control If this is the case, then please Iet a mod know as soon as possible so we can get someone to hep your group with pinch hitting
What is a pinch hitter?
A pinch hitter is someone who takes over for someone in the case that they drop out of the bang. You are not required to be a pinch hitter and, even if you did sign up to be one, you can always turn down working as one later in the bang
How will posting work?
After Check in Three, you will be given your date and time for posting. On the day of posting, you need to post at least one chapter/artwork. If you’re planning to post it to Tumblr, then please tag it with #lozbb or #legendofzeldabigbang and tag this account so we can find it and reblog it! You then have until the end of the posting period (tbc) to upload the rest of your fic/artwork.
