I found myself thinking this morning, after coming across a post about writers I wanted to reblog and scrolling straight past it, ‘well I can’t share that, I’m not much of a writer, am I?’

And then it kind of hit me.

That isn’t true.

It’s true that yes, I haven’t written in quite a while. It’s also true that yes, I’m not exactly sure when I’ll be able find the time or the motivation to write again. But that doesn’t mean I’m not a writer.

If you’ve ever put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, or however else you create words and stories, you are a writer. It doesn’t matter if it’s been days, months, or years since you’ve written. It doesn’t matter if it’s long or short, just a few sentences or multiple pages. It doesn’t even matter if it’s complete or incomplete. If you’ve created something, WRITTEN something, you are a writer.

Time doesn’t matter. Neither does word count.

You are a writer, an author of your own creation, no matter what.

Be proud of yourself. 😊

Soulmates are not your ~other half~, that’s just nonsense. You are a whole person already, not half a person. A soulmate isn’t even inherently romantic. A soulmate is just the other sock in a matched set. You’re still a whole, complete sock on your own, you are perfectly functional paired with any other sock, it’s just that it’s even better when you match. A soulmate is literally just the person (or people) who makes your soul go “!!! Same hat!!!” and wave excitedly.

Dogs are the best people.

Six Ways to Support Fan Fiction Authors – The Lallybroch Library

I would add that reblogging fics (if you read them on tumblr) is a great way to support fic writers. Oftentimes you’ll see that fics have far more likes than reblogs, and likes are great, but reblogs help spread someone’s work so more people can read it. If a work has 100 likes and 10 reblogs, that means only a tenth of the people that enjoyed the story thought it was worth sharing.

I second that. If you’re a new writer reblogs are the only way for anyone to see your work. Always reblog if you’re especially impressed by a work.

This is primordial no matter the fandom people!

Support your writers and artists if you enjoy their content.

Ditto. Visual art still gets a ton of reblogs, but nobody is reblogging fic anymore. Please do! Because some of my work is explicit, I often don’t tag the characters in it. (I don’t want some ten-year-old happily looking up Kanan Jarrus and then wondering what the heck this is.) If people don’t reblog my stories, I don’t pick up new readers.  Thanks.

(Inspired by a headcanon i found somewhere).

Sirius stood on the entrance of the bedroom, leaning against the doorframe. His eyes were following Remus around the room as he, oblivious to Sirius’s presence, paced from one bed to the other with a book in his hands, closing his eyes now and then and muttering something repeatedly, trying to memorize whatever it was he was reading. Sirius watched, with an amused ghost of a smile on his lips, as a cup of steaming tea followed Remus around, and the boy reached for it now and then to take a small sip and then put it back into the air. There was a soft melody in the air, coming from Remus’s muggle “turntable” or whatever, and Sirius closed his eyes, letting the music fill him as he freeze framed the scene in front of him in his mind. After a few minutes, he walked up to Remus, as silently as he could, and took the tea cup from the air to put it safely on one of the bedside tables. He then slipped his arms around Remus’s waist from behind him, tightening them when the werewolf jumped slightly from surprise. “You’re wearing mismatched socks” Sirius muttered against the back of Remus’s neck. He could feel Remus sigh contentedly and close his book, and started to press small kisses on the base of Remus’s skull. “When do I not, though,” Remus answered softly, and Sirius grinned against his hair. “You’re a nerd,” he whispers. Remus swatted at one of Sirius’s arms, and turned around in them, looping his own around Sirius’s neck. “I know.” They started to slowly sway with the music, some jazzy thing that allegedly helped Remus concentrate. They slow-danced around the room, grinning stupidly at each other, completely out of rhythm, book and tea completely forgotten. “Moony,” Sirius whispered against Remus’s cheeks. “My Moony.” Remus closed his eyes briefly, taking in the words, and rested his forehead against Sirius’s shoulder. And for Sirius, that was more than enough.
