To be clear: I will NOT be dropping the Machi theme. You’re all just going to have to live with that being who I am.

Tentatively wandering back here, but if I do, I need to clean up the blog itself AND my following list and that just feels like so much work.

unpretty

one time while we were in the car andrew said “i basically think your gender is whatever robot body you would choose to have in a transhumanist future, but then again, that would make my gender a featureless floating orb” and i think about that a lot

glad this post is back because it took another two years after stating that their perfect body would be an orb for andrew to realize they’re agender

The true story behind the TOS mini-skirts, which were brought into existence by an idea Grace Lee Whitney’s.

Notice Nichelle’s intentionally making the skirt sneak up to be even shorter!

(From Marc Cushman’s “These are the Voyages: Volume I”)

Well that’s disappointing… Like I’m glad it wasn’t men being creepy but why would you do that? :\

Mini skirts didn’t mean the same thing in the 60s as they do today! The 60s were a time of sexual empowerment and liberation for women, and I’m sure to the women on the show the skirts smacked more of a rebellion than of objectification. And indeed, the skirts were a rebellion considering the studio didn’t think it was appropriate for women to be shown in so little clothing.

For awhile, the mini skirt was a female power symbol in the 60s: http://www.randomhistory.com/2009/05/25_miniskirt.html

So a lot of people now look at those skirts and see them as sexist, but the women on the show didn’t. Nichelle Nichols has personally spoken out about her support for the skirts and her irritation with people now trying to claim they were sexist, because they made her feel powerful and she found them functional. They were also a pretty typical example of how real women dressed back then, she says, and the studio’s regulations weren’t in-line with real women.

Context is very important when considering the TOS miniskirts!

POLICE ARE USING TEARGAS AND WATER CANNONS AGAINST PEACEFUL, UNARMED PROTESTERS.

THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO US. I’M FUCKING ANGRY THAT I CAN ONLY SIT HERE AND UPDATE SHIT.

PLEASE REBLOG AND SIGNAL BOOST.

This was the photo right before the break up of the protest.

We are unarmed. We have only our umbrellas.

They started it first. How fucking inhumane.

A child was hit by teargas. A Child.

A monk in the protest literally prayed and begged the police to stop.

Dozens of people are injured from the water cannon.

My friends are freaking there. And I’ve lost contact with them. The last text I sent was to go to our campus because it is safer there.

I’m so angry. Dear international followers, please acknowledge and please boost this post.

I’m sorry for swear words but I just can’t tolerate this shit anymore. I’m ashamed that I can only sit here, translating and donating. But I’m going to keep updating the situation nonetheless.

Petition for a comic that’s just the Joker vs. a bunch of frighteningly competent normal arse clowns who have gone temporarily vigilante for the sole purpose of taking the Joker down for his repeated violations of the clown code.

since i doubt the joker ever copyrighted his makeup with a clown egg, they’re all wearing his ‘face’

“What are you so mad about, Joker? We’re technically not in costume; it’s not like this is a clown’s face. Show us a clown with this and we’ll respect his use of it.”

Please someone mock up a page of Joker running terrified through a hallway, as a dozen clowns chase him, all chanting “SHOW US YOUR EGG”  and Batman just watching from security monitors like “Huh. Thats new.”

Editing? Oh you mean fic patching.

  • Protagonist now has more complex motivations.
  • Protagonist now remembers key facts about important people. He no longer develops convenient amnesia between cutscenes.
  • Protagonist now has a cooldown on certain adverbs. Adverbs have been buffed by 30% to compensate.
  • Developer note: Adverbs are important to writing but they are sometimes overused. This change keeps adverbs relevant while encouraging the use of adjectives and verbs.
  • The horse now has a name.
  • Deuteragonist snark power has been increased to 150, up from 75.
  • Characters now no longer reference the previous version’s climate and have been updated to react appropriately to the currently set season.
  • Solved a glitch where supernumerary limbs would sometimes emerge during complex physical interactions.
  • Should no longer display “[insertnamehere]” during conversations and narration. All of such occurrances have been replaced with the appropriate tags.
  • Conversation continuity has been improved. Characters will no longer inappropriately respond with lines from previous iterations of the narrative.
  • All references to “Event A” have been purged to reflect changes in narrative structure.
  • Now with more thematically-consistent swearing.

people who really, really vocally hate chihuahuas are suspicious to me in a different way than people who really, really vocally hate cats, but it feels similar

we bred these animals to be tiny and helpless and easily disregarded, persistently refuse to take them seriously or give them autonomy, manhandle them at our will and then you hate them because….what, they get fed up and try to defend themselves? maybe you deserve to have your ankles bitten

people will make jokes about wanting to hurt chihuahuas like that’s funny and relatable and not, you know, an incredibly disturbing thing to say about a tiny, defenseless animal
