Gently and tactfully introducing my mutuals to the latest just a guy™ I’m obsessed with like a divorced mother introducing their new boyfriend to their children
Raise your hand if you have also been personally victimized by the barometric pressure changes 🥲
So Fox News ran a story about how they think libraries are turning into drug-infested sex dens and I am shocked, shocked that I was never offered any drugs during my 15+ years working in libraries.
Where do they think the sex is happening?? Every single aisle is lit in that horrible LED lighting. The teens don't even make out here anymore.
As a state certified librarian I can assure you that you just have to go into your local library and ask if they're participating in the new Fox News Hysteria program smh. If they're not, you'll just have to renew your library card and use the fun and valuable resources they're offering right now, such as wifi hotspots, museum passes, dvd lending, mid level adult erotica, ebook lending, and printing! 😔
Jokes aside, here's a nice textbook example piece for any young folks who had not yet seen the "if a society agrees that a Thing is Bad, then people in power have a vested interest in labeling their political opponents as Bad Thing" principle in action.
With the recent run of censorship laws in red states, public libraries have proven a consistent stumbling block. They are not going along with the right-wing agenda of collective memory wipe and public gag order on topics of queerness and racial tension. Public libraries are becoming, increasingly, politically inconvenient for this faction.
And so, it turns out that public libraries are Full Of Sex And Drugs. Just absolute Dens of Sin and Iniquity. Shocking! Who would have thought?

what a lovely character, i want to see him deeply distressed/in pain
So I binged the entirety of How To Build a Sex Room last night and this one scene just cracked me up
The designer's at a western leather/tack store looking for supplies to make a rustic-style sex swing and turns to one of the store employees for advice, which initially goes about as amusingly as you would expect
So then she pulls up some pictures to give him an idea of what she needs
And he's Immediately like
The professional disgust, I'm living
This is what got me to watch this show.
The whole thing is amazing, because it's hosted by this very sweet old British lady, who is like if a judge on Great British Bake Off was the kinkiest person alive, and her general contractor and best friend is a man who has never heard of sex in his life despite building sex rooms professionally for several years
reasons i haven’t replied back:
- i’m socially exhausted - i don’t have the time right now - i don’t know how to reply - i have a bad memory and got distracted - i’m having a depressive episode and don’t have the energy to socialise
not reasons i haven’t replied back:
- i’m ignoring you just because - i hate you - i’m fed up with you - i don’t want to be your friend anymore
At some point in your life, you were taught that being slightly annoying is an unforgivable sin. Maybe it was by your parents or a teacher or a friend or a bully or an older sibling. But someone taught you that being slightly annoying is a crime punishable by death.
You must unlearn this.
You must accept that all people will be annoying at some point or another in their lives, maybe all of their lives, and that this is okay. It is okay for strangers on the bus, it is okay for children in the grocery store, it is okay for people on social media, and it is okay for you.
If you ever want to truly love your fellow humans, if you ever want to truly love yourself, you must have forgiveness for being annoying.
