Tenebres AU

Soooooo, about Tenebres AU, whether it’s peaked your interest or not; I still wanna explain what’s happening since I never fully made it clear in a post. 

Originally, I created Tenebres AU but Tenebres is a world created by my friend. I just liked the concept of the world and made a danganronpa au out of it. I think this was back in 2019 it started. My friends recently got into danganronpa (in some way or another) in late 2020 and early 2021. INCLUDING the friend who made the world. SO we decided to collab on it and have our friend group join in. 

Now Tenebres AU is a collaborative thing, the one who created the world has more lore than most of us. But we also strive on characters interacting with each other + having kinda next generations for first two game characters. (So like DR1 and SDR2 cast adopted/had children that are the DRV3 cast)

Day 4 of @shinnagaweek – Magical/Fantasy AU

Naturally I had to draw my beloved Tenebres designs ,,, You know how it be, vampires and bloodbenders go together like two peas in a pod :]

I’d been sitting on a half-finished bust of Miu for a while + was waiting for @snellyfish to finish designing her she is SO SPLENDID. OMNOMNOMNOM. And I also got a Hiyoko ref out of @senvurii2 my beloved (derogatory) SO I WANTED TO DRAW HER I LOVE HER COLORS SO MUCH HRGHRGRHRGH. 

Understandably they have most of these characters’ lore. But to briefly summarize: Miu is the adoptive daughter of Souda and Nekomaru, surrogated by Mikan. She’s a mage excelling in electricity-based magic and invention. Hiyoko in our AU is significantly younger than the rest of the DR2 cast (Closer to DRV3 age, but still older) and is the adoptive daughter of Mahiru and Yasuhiro. She’s a mage with a unique set of horns she sprouted from her time being a Remnant of Despair. 

I also just wanted to doodle some interactions of Hiyoko and her younger sister Himiko. They have beautifully polarizing personalities and I love them. :)

Some Chiaki lore :^)

After execution she’s sent to the deepest depths of the Dream Realm, busted up and her plating falling apart. Since she’s partially made with Dream magic, she starts to reflect her new hellish environment and her form becomes unstable over her time there. Don’t have a definitive design for this yet, but I imagine it’d be fluid and fluctuate anyway so WHATEVA have these concepts

While she is eventually retrieved and Chihiro repairs her, she still has visible cracks in her mask, and her right eye has trouble seeing outside of DR. We’re thinking of her joining up and assisting Makoto and others in protecting DR from being used negatively like that again, learning more from Chihiro and tinkering a bit herself on top of her other research.

Kyoko and Kaede refs for our Tenebres AU. :) They aren’t super associated with each other as characters. It was mainly just that I was developing both of them at the same time. Their one connection is through Shuichi.

Tenebres Sayaka and Angie eagerly cheer on Mukuro and Korekiyo as they attempt to become friends by awkwardly standing in each other’s presence with their matching shoulder spikes. Kanon is there to support Sayaka and no one else.

Finally brainrotted hard enough to design older Mikane in Tenebres !! There was a significantly cursed comic of Miu trying to be a surrogate for Oumota (following in Mikan’s footsteps of surrogating for Soudanidai) but it will remain the stuff of legends and won’t see the light of day here!!!!!

Had a lot of fun writing out general older Mikan + Akane stuff, most if not all of it applies to my actual headcanons for them when they’re older in the canon world too and not just AUs HAHA. I love them so much it’s unreal :) I love to imagine they never like,,,get legally married but at a certain point they just have matching rings and sometimes Akane just forgets and she’s like MIKAN?? YOU’RE MARRIED??? WHOS THE LUCKY ONE?? and Mikan’s like “y–you–akane–I–look at your hand right now sweetie” “WOAH!!!!”

I LOVE MUKURO. MY BELOVED.

In the AU she’s a 300+ year old Tenebroso werewolf who aids her sister in feeding upon others’ dreams. Where Junko keeps herself alive by consuming despair, Mukuro has a drastically slowed aging process from being a Tenebroso. Typically she is seen posing as her younger self due to Junko’s demands (She doesn’t enjoy thinking about aging). Her natural appearance has begun showing its wear after having lived for over several centuries. 

 She does still “die” in this AU but her death only sends her deeper into the Dream Realm where she finds another recently “killed” victim, Sayaka.
