You know how we always wonder why Paul thinks Bush got married? Well, if he ever mentions someone disabusing him of the notion, that someone might have been me.

“Really? Wonder where I got that from? [laughing] Must be wishful thinking!”

We agreed that Bush was married to the Navy. And he didn’t disagree when I said “And to Hornblower!”

He said again that he would have loved to film Bush losing his leg (and I told him that I knew a lot of people - myself included - who would love to see it). Apparently they all used to phone the producers on an annual basis asking whether they were going to do some more, but of course it never happened.

“And we’re all too old now.” 😥

Why is asking permission for certain things, both romantic and platonic, one of the cutest, most heart-fluttering things ever?

  1. "Can I hold your hand?"
  2. "Can I kiss you?"
  3. "Would you like me to carry your jacket?"
  4. "Can I hug you?"
  5. "Would it be alright if we cuddled?"
  6. "Can I play with your hair?"
  7. "Might I walk you home?"
  8. "Can I tickle you?
  9. "Is it okay if I kiss you goodbye?"
  10. "Can I hold onto your arm while we walk?"
  11. "Can I rest my head on your shoulder?"
  12. "Is it okay if I call you (nickname)?"
  13. "I'd really like to kiss you right now, if that's okay with you,"
  14. "Would you let me take care of you?"

[ID: a reply from @/sopheadraws that reads, "in I Am Spock Leonard Nimoy said the producer wanted to add whale/probe subtitles, but he was steadfast that it not be translated." /end ID]

Bush had the feeling that if he were a man of instant quickness of thought and readiness of tongue he would take advantage of this new attitude of the captain's to free Wellard from his peril; by posing as the captain's devoted companion in trouble and at the same time laughing off the thought of danger from any conspiracy, he might modify the captain's fears. So he felt, but he had no confidence in himself. - lieutenant hornblower, ch. 2
