"Do your worst"-- NO. We're done with this negativity.

Do your BEST.

Bring out your shiniest most complex vaporizer ray that took a whole PhD to complete. Bring out the pack of dogs you rescued and trained meticulously to rip intruders to shreds. Bring out your cherished ancestral cursed weapon that remains sharp with the blood of your enemies.

If you're going to kill the hero then do it in the way that makes YOU happy and shows off your absolute best work.

Madrigal Fam Headcanons

  • Dolores has special earmuffs she uses when she needs a hearing break and/or get a good night's sleep
  • Dolores also knows sign language/how to read lips
  • Luisa collects plush unicorns and has a huge stack in her room (that Mirabel will sometimes camp out on with permission)
  • Luisa's favorite plush is named Framboesa (Raspberry) and she sleeps with it every night
  • Mirabel knit a scarf for Framboesa one winter and Luisa never took it off
  • Isabela becomes a botanist post-movie and explores the mountains for new plants
  • Isabela's room now has an entire section devoted to just succulents
  • Isabela's favorite flower is the jacaranda
  • Bruno's room completely remodels itself post-movie to be less isolated (no more f***ing endless stairs and sand) and less ominous; kind of like Antonio's but less forest-y
  • Bruno and Antonio send each other secret messages via the rats
  • Camilo is nonbinary and goes by they/he
  • Camilo gets ribbed on for making Tío Bruno sound like an Eldritch monster, to the point Bruno tries to deliberately scare him as a prank
  • Julietta has a whole book of recipes she's collected and adds to every year
  • Pepa loves having her hair brushed/cared for by Félix (she strokes her hair to self-soothe)
  • Tío Félix is an expert in curly hair care/grooming and does Dolores', Camilo's, and Antonio's hair (and sometimes Mirabel's)
  • Mirabel is the only one in the family who can have a full conversation with La Casita
  • Mirabel can crochet, knit, sew, embroider, and is trying to get into tatting lace
  • Parce (Antonio's jaguar) begs for table scraps and cuddles Antonio every night making jaguar-sized biscuits (kneading)
  • Antonio knows as much gossip around town as Dolores because of animal informants and they spill the tea with each other a lot
  • Bruno gets taken on bonding trips with his brothers-in-law, Félix and Augustín. He particularly enjoys fishing and having cookouts
  • Since Augustín is super accident prone, Mirabel has to mend her dad's clothes a lot
  • Mirabel makes custom clothing for Luisa as not a lot of shops will accommodate her size and most durable clothing isn't cute or fashionable
  • Camilo's powers are triggered/affected by allergies (e.g. coughing/sneezing)
  • Julietta makes regular non-magical medicines and tonics in case of emergency, e.g. if she can't cook anything right away

I'll add more if I think of any (or yall can add some idc)

HERE HAVE SOME MORE

  • Félix can always tell if/when Camilo is impersonating someone (e.g. sussed him out when he was trying to get seconds as Dolores LET HIM EAT)
  • Bruno plays guitar and learns (composes?) the song Dos Oruguitas
  • Antonio can't speak to bugs so has no qualms about others k¡||ing them (circle of life and all that. Plus a lot of animals eat bugs. No traumatizing the baby)
  • Antonio can talk to spiders though. He's in charge of taking them outside La Casita or telling them not to go certain places I'd someone is scared of them
  • Camilo is afraid of spiders
  • Antonio can also talk to bees... eventually (RIP Augustín...)
  • Luisa gets into yoga/calisthenics post-movie (gotta cool down even with super strength)
  • Antonio still has the plush jaguar that Mirabel made him and keeps it safe from Parce so it won't get torn up on accident
  • The animals that cause the most trouble aren't the rats, it's the coatis
  • Julietta can cook but cannot bake to save her life
  • Pepa is a master at baking but a terrible cook
  • Abuela adopts a stray cat that starts to hang out on the front doorstep/courtyard of La Casita. Antonio relays to her his (the cat's) name is Pablo and she cries.

More Headcanons I thought of a month later (3/14)

  • Bruno finds out his gift translates into other methods of fortune telling (e.g. throwing bones, tarot, etc.) and he gets really good at it
  • Everyone in the village is hesitant to get a reading from Bruno until Isabella steps up as the first person to ask for one
  • Bruno likes tarot better than his original method because it offers a broader scope on the person's life and offers suggestions instead of showing a static outcome
  • Bruno also recruits the gaggle of kids in the village to form an acting/music group, and they put on plays for the whole town with Bruno as director
  • Espresso/coffee kid is the set builder/stage crew because he can move so fast
  • Mirabel makes the costumes
  • Augustín provides the musical score (along with other musicians)
  • Antonio trains animals to play certain roles if called for
  • Abuela always gets the best seat in the house to watch performances
  • Pepa creates special effects with the weather (fog, rain, thunder, etc)
  • Basically Casa Madrígal becomes a theater on certain nights (the balconies remind me of the Globe Theatre tbh)

... so, I read a lot of books as a kid. Goosebumps, Hank the Cowdog, the Cricket in Times Square, all kinds of books. And I remember one year getting this box set of books that I *loved* about a litter of kittens who are inexplicably born with wings and go on some little adventures.

So, I look it up to see if it's still in print.

Ursula K Le Guin.

Wizard of Earthsea Le Guin. Left Hand of Darkness Le Guin. "We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable; so did the divine right of kings" LE GUIN wrote *Catwings*

I, my friends, had incredible taste as a child.

Found a copy on ebay. It's even shorter than I remember. Lol 40 whole pages.

With these beautiful illustrations.

Great news!

Books 2 and 3 came in! A sweet 48 pages each.

(Book 4 has been ordered, but used books are inconsistent with their shipping times, so it is not here yet )

And so the set is complete!
