Nancy Drew, 4.03 “The Danger of the Hopeful Sigil” (2023)
I struggled so much with S4 but I will never get over what his face conveys here with just a 3 second look.
It’s so clearly saying “I know you just betrayed me by calling the sin eater AND I just found out you have a soulmate thats not me, but if you think I’m not going to volunteer to endanger myself to ensure your safety, you don’t know me at all.”
Me watching Nace break up like 7x during Nancy Drew Season 4: “Well at least I still have Chenford.”
The Rookie: 👀
Crack Plot Twist…
I think we’re gonna find out that the real reason that Primm is punishing Lucy isn’t for the 5 player trade (why would you be mad if it got you a job you wanted?) but because he somehow found out that Lucy gave Tim a rescue dog only to find out that Tim has been ignoring it.
Per Smitty’s intel, his real beef is that he thinks Lucy was a bad foster mom to give a Kojo to someone who is ignoring it. 😂
Even though he looked dorky and unhygienic on the mentalist, it was still Ace’s soft voice so I couldn’t hate!
That said, now I have to rewatch some Nancy eps just to cleanse my brain of the ponytail and wispy mustache
No one told me that by the time Alex Saxon’s mentalist ep would show up I’d also be freshly dealing with Vega’s “departure” and Jisbon’s pseudo break-up!!! This is too much at once!! 😭
1) Chenford was supercute and they had to make that progress. I like that Tim wasn’t even consciously aware of his own fears. And that proposal forshadowing 👀, love to see it! But don’t want it to happen this season to be honest.
2) I am quickly becoming Aaron and Selena’s biggest shipper and will gladly shift the “will they/won’t they” drama over to them! I am bummed that they didn’t let it simmer in the background more though and had Aaron go in for the kiss. Weirdly though, I thought it was meant to be a friendly kiss on the cheek and not meant to be romantic and she took it the wrong way? But then as the ep went on I was doubting my original take. Need to rewatch that scene. It happened so fast and I wasn’t 100% paying attention when it happened.
3) Skip tracer Randy had no business in the 100th episode let alone having the amount of screentime he did. They could have just explained that Pete couldn’t be at the wedding because he had 600 outstanding parking tickets and ended it there.
4) Where was Smitty???? It made perfect sense for Grey to officiate but…You can’t tell me it wouldn’t have been amazing if Smitty was the only one who could officiate last minute. Missed opportunity!
I don’t have a lot of complaints about the rookie but monica is one of them.
I feel like they aim for “love to hate her” with her but in reality its just “hate her”
Like….why is she here again?
I rewatched the S5 finale last night because its been 84 years and I kind of needed a refresher on what happened and OH MY GOD I FORGOT HOW TENSE AND SCARY THAT EPISODE WAS.
Like those scary-ass masks. The horror movie jump scares during the Nolan break-in, one of those masked freaks on the baby monitor taking Nyla’s baby.
The creepy shield formation of masked men coming for Chenford.
Just an absolutely insane episode.
Can’t wait for tonight
Me reading all the Nace fics you guys did for Valentines Day
What if the reason Nancy survived their curse breaking attempt and they were eventually able to break the curse is because in a past life nace wrote each other's names at the lovers vigil
Yet another example of fan theories being better than reality.
Hiding Van Pelt behind a desk for S5 was the absolute laziest way of hiding the actresses pregnancy. Like they didn’t even ATTEMPT to try to do anything slightly more difficult to keep her as a more integral part of the story. She is basically an extra with occasional lines at this point its so dumb.
Let's play a game. Caption this photo.
Not a caption but this is 100% the new physical Nace dynamic now that they are together and it pains me that we’ll never see it so like is this photoshop? AI? I don’t care but we definitely need more of this.
Me: “cheating is unforgivable and disgusting”
Also Me, watching the Rookie ep where Chen and Bradford almost cheat on their significant others with each other:
Me @ The Mentalist S3 finale: Oh THANK GOD they finally killed Red John, that plot was getting really dragged out.
Me @ The Mentalist S4 premiere: WUT.
Ok I’m almost done with S3 of The Mentalist and I’m still struggling to feel anything for Jisbon and I’ve realized why…
There is no dramatic tension. No drama between them at all for that matter. No overt pining. No longing stares. Not even a status as each others “platonic” person to lean on (see: early Mulder and Scully, Nancy and Ace, or Bradford and Chen).
Like I admit there is an attraction between them but they seem much more like surface-level flirtations. And Lisbon mostly seems annoyed (yet entertained) by his predictable investigation shenanigans.
At this point, I feel way more for the Rigsby-VanPelt-Tim Bradford (I refuse to call him anything else) love triangle than I do for Jisbon because its a clear plot point. Rigsby is PINING. He’s hurt. He’s only got heart eyes for Grace.
Anyway, re: Jisbon, I’m not giving up. I guess I’m just wondering if there is any clear angst/pining written for them anytime soon??
At this point, I feel like Jane’s angst still revolves entirely around Red John and every other ep is just standard Jane shenanigans.
