An image of Teedyuscung, dressed in European clothing, holding a cane.

Teedyuscung (1700–1763) was known as King of the Delawares. He worked to establish a permanent Lenape (Delaware) home in eastern Pennsylvania in the Lehigh, Susquehanna and Delaware River valleys. Teedyuscung participated in the Treaty of Eastonwhich resulted in the loss of any Lenape claims to all lands in Pennsylvania. Following the treaty the Lenape were forced to live under the control of the Iroquois in the Wyoming Valley near modern-day Wilkes-Barre. Teedyuscung was murdered by arsonists on April 19, 1763 as he reportedly lay asleep as his cabin burned around him. This marked the beginning of the end of the Lenape presence in Pennsylvania.

Native representation on 'The Last Of Us' - yay!!!!!!!! Showing what Natives have been doing for centuries - surviving and thriving!!!

I get so HAPPY when I see Native American representation in cinema, especially when it's not a stereotype. I jumped for joy at the opening scene watching Joel talking to the Native couple. Ahhhhhh, Native auntie laughter is the best, and to hear it on a somber show was pure joy!!!!

My whole life, people have tried to make me into something I’m not. To make me “normal”, or at least “acceptable”. I became skilled at so many things just so I would still have value. Despite my flaws… or what I’d been taught was a flaw. Of course I tried to fit in. But when you’re punished just for being different, you begin to  hate what you are. And what you love. What should make you happy… only brings you pain. Don’t hate what you are. What you are is beautiful.
