Why Am I So Hungry After Breakfast?

If you're still feeling hungry soon after breakfast, one of the following may be the reason why.

You Aren’t Eating Enough

If you are only having a small meal for breakfast such as a piece of fruit or a juice, you may not be eating enough to get you through to your mid-morning snack or lunchtime. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day so it is crucial that you are filling up on the right things. This brings me to my next point…

You Are Eating the Wrong Thing

Your breakfast should contain a healthy balance of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. The most common mistake people make with their breakfast choices is eating ‘breakfast’ labelled foods. Most pre-packaged, quick breakfast options like cereal, muffins and pancakes are highly processed, full of sugar and can be some of the worst foods to start your day!

Although the box may say ‘nutritious’ or claim to be high in certain vitamins, these sugary breakfast meals can cause a huge dip in blood sugar levels just a couple of hours later. As a result, you are more likely to crave unhealthy high sugar foods throughout the day, which is your body’s calls for a ‘pick me up’. It is also why you may be are feeling so hungry after your breakfast.

You Need a Healthy Snack

If you had a lighter breakfast or are simply feeling peckish, it is perfectly okay to have a snack before lunch time. Sticking to a healthy snack will help keep you satisfied and avoid a blood sugar crash. My favorites are veggie sticks with hummus, a handful of nuts and an apple, some greek yogurt and berries or my homemade muesli bars.

Spot Reduction? If you’ve never heard the term before, it’s connected to the idea of targeted fat loss or reducing the size of specific areas of the body. Like a lot of topics in health and fitness, spot reduction is a popular idea but also the subject of a lot of misinformation! If you ever see a workout that promises you’ll lose belly fat or make your arms smaller, it is possibly being aimed at people who would like to spot reduce. Workouts that promise spot reduction are also often combined with the idea of losing weight quickly. Spot reduction is actually a myth because you cannot lose fat from just one area of the body. Our bodies are more complex than that — if you’re aiming to reduce the size of a certain area of the body, you would need to achieve fat loss from your WHOLE body. It isn’t possible to target fat loss from just one part of the body, and the way women lose fat can be determined by a combination of factors, including your stage of life and genetics. Additionally, exercises that target only one area of the body could lead to imbalances and potential injury from overtraining. Spot Reduction Myth What can I do instead of trying to spot reduce? The great news is that you CAN do things for your health and fitness that will benefit your WHOLE body. Be consistent with your training. Set yourself goals and work towards them by scheduling regular workouts. It’s important to remember there are NO shortcuts when it comes to health. Results come from hard work and take time! 🍒Healthy cherry pancakes on Sunday? Get my recipe and comment 💕 if you like it⁣ ⁣ What:⁣ 1 tsp flax flour⁣ 1 tsp your favorite protein⁣ 1 tbsp. almond oil⁣ 2 tbsp. coconut flour⁣ 3 tbsp. sweet cherries⁣ 1 tsp coconut oil⁣ 1 tsp natural honey⁣ ⁣ How:⁣ Combine flax, coconut flour and protein. I n a separate bowl, mix almond oil, honey and 30 ml of boiling water. Pour the almond mixture into dry ingredients and mix well. Heat coconut oil in a pan and cook pancakes 2-3 tablespoons at a time. Serve with cherries and coconut yogurt. 🍓 Chia Bowl for Saturday breakfast! 1½ cup almond milk 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tbsp  honey ⅓ cup chia seeds ¼ oatmeal ¼ cup of greek style yogurt ¼ flax seeds cup almonds coconut flakes Fruits and berries to taste Pour a small amount of almond milk into a bowl and beat with cinnamon and honey until completely mixed. Add the remaining almond milk, chia seeds and oatmeal and mix. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight. You can also do this in a glass jar with a lid.
