Alternate Shinies: Charmander Line

004 - charmander | 005 - charmeleon | 006 - charizard

My changes: I decided very early on that I couldn’t top the original shiny charizard, which led to me just messing around with this one. My original thought process was to contrast the tough fire dragon aesthetic with pretty/’girly’ colours to piss off macho charizard fans, but I think that thought process might have been a bit harsh. If you’re not the type of person who would get mad over some rando making a pink charizard edit then you weren’t the type of person I was trying to bother!

My thoughts on the original shiny: You can’t get a more iconic shiny than black charizard, and in my opinion it’s one of the top tier shinies. There was no way I was going to be happy with my shiny if I tried to make it better than the original, so I’m glad I just decided to have fun instead.

#005 - Charmeleon

In ancient times, Charmeleons were owned exclusively by miners and blacksmiths, due to their claws, fire, and ability to follow orders.

Charmeleons often challenge passing Charizards. However, the Charizard often ignore them, assuming them to be unworthy.

Charmeleon often wander away their parents to find suitable home locations, however, they usually do not permanently leave until they are Charizards.

Charmeleon often use Fire Fang on their prey, simultaneously cooking and killing them.

Some derpy fire babies for you. I’m trying to get the hang of watercolors; you guys should shoot out some requests and I’ll scribble ‘em for you. Could be Pokemon, could be Nemo touching Captain America’s butt, his dad in the background, aghast. 

So remember the charmeleon I was sculpting? Baked it, painted it, and it’s ready to be submitted for a grade.

And tonight I start on my final project, Charizard.

Charmander Family HCs

1. Charmander has the highest abandonment rate out of any Kanto Pokemon. Many ambitious trainers pick Charmander, but often fail to understand that it time to bring out a Charmander’s full potential. Abandoned Charmander often have obedience problems later, even if they are eventually owned by a loving trainer.

2. Even people from other regions who aren’t familiar with non-native Pokemon know Charizard. Unova in particular has many dedicated Charizard fan clubs.  

3. There’s a battle tournament in Cinnabar (later moved to Mt. Ember post eruption) to show off every stage of the Charmander line. Charmander battle on a basic battlefield, Charmeleon on a rocky field, and Charizard in an aerial battle. The final battle in the Charizard section is over a lava field and winning is highly coveted because the winner’s Charizard gets an exhibition match with Lance’s Charizard. 

4. Charmeleon are prone to taking huge risks if they think it means getting strong, so don’t let them jump in the ocean or do something stupid. 

5. Clair and Lance have a fierce rivalry over whose Charizard is better. They also disagree on which of Charizard’s mega forms is better (Clair prefers X, Lance prefers Y). Battles between them get very explosive. And don’t get between them by declaring your Gigantamax Charizard is better, as Leon found out the hard way. 

6. Charmander love dust baths.

So apparently Leon had given me a special charmander that can gigantamax. After that I took celebi and jirachi to camp. I have a lot of pokémon that have a pokérus.
