Breakfast was a silent affair in the (L/n) household; as usual. Even more so when it was just (Y/n) and her mother— Akari— sitting stiffly at the dining table and picking at their meals.

Note: I’d been feeling a bit under the weather as of late, so here’s a little something that was a little self indulgent.

Imagine Kyōjurō coming home from a long mission; all tired and sleepy, feet almost dragging across the ground, and breathing becoming so slow that he just wanted to sleep right where he was— just standing a few feet from his house, too.

But he pushes himself to take the last few steps. And he’d be immediately greeted by silence. Instead of his wife welcoming him home— like usual— he’d be faced with a slightly dusty home.

Of course he’d panic, and he’d look everywhere for his wife; only to see her curled up in bed, with a towel on her forehead to keep her fever down.

All his tiredness would be washed away then, replaced by worry and a tinge of sadness that he couldn’t have kept her from getting sick. High key, he’d be wishing that it would be him in her place instead, because he wanted her to never experience any kind of pain or discomfort.

So, even if his entire body’s sore, he’d take it upon himself to do all the chores that needed to be done— as quietly as possible— and checking on her once in a while to change the towel on her forehead. Brushing her hair back and pressing his cheek to her skin to get a feel of her temperature, before brushing his lips against her forehead— then down to her lips; smiling softly when she doesn’t even stir in her sleep.

“I hope you feel better soon, my love. I’ve missed you so much,” He’d whisper to her, pressing one more kiss to her lips before getting up from beside her so he could start making dinner for her.

It would be a simple meal of steamed rice and a fried egg (since that’d be all he knew how to cook without burning the kitchen down 😂), but he’d still prepare it with all the love he had for her. Even excitedly padding back to the bedroom with their meals in a tray, so they could eat together when she woke up.
