Hello everyone!

It’s getting to be that time of year again to start planning for a Secret Santa exchange! For this VLD exchange, all pairings, or gen, are welcomed.

If you pop over to our blog, you’ll see a link for both the Participant Survey and the Mod Application, as links will hide posts here on Tumblr. (Sorry to give you an extra step here, but I want to make sure people see this.)

The current schedule is:

  • Mod applications open: August 29th - September 12th
  • Participant applications open: August 29th - September 26th
  • Pairings mailed: October 10th-17th
  • First Check-In: November 7th
  • Second Check-In: December 5th
  • Posting: December 25th - January 6th

Minimum requirements for gifts are:

  • Fanart - One completed drawing (what you would consider as “finished” when posting)
  • Fanfiction - 1K+ words
  • Icons - 4+ icons
  • Edits/GIFs - 4+ panels
  • Fan Mixes - 16+ songs or 1 hour of content
  • Aesthetic - 2+ boards

Once you fill out a participant application, you will be given a link to our Discord server if you wish to join.

Please share this post if you can! We want to be able to reach as many VLD fans as possible.

VLD Secret Santa 2020 Interest Check

Anyway since its halloween im gonna take the time to think abt Keith taking Lotor to a haunted house. They're Keith's favorite halloween tradition, and he didn't tell Lotor what they were doing, just that it was a big part of Earth culture. Ofc they get there and Lotor's like "what is this? That's not a ghost that's a guy in make up" but then when he goes to attack the first actor that jumps out at them, Keith catches his hand and explains what's going on while trying and failing not to laugh.

Lotor's confused. "Humans enjoy scaring themselves on purpose?"

"Yeah it's fun."

Lotor just shakes his head, baffled

Keith wasn’t sure what was happening or where he was. All he knew was that he was, at the moment, laying on a hard surface and that his head hurt.

Without sitting up, Keith tried to remember what had led him here. After a moment of concentration, he remembered Lotor giving them the information about the work camp.

Welcome to Keitor Month!

Keitor is an under appreciated ship by the fandom at large. So we've decided to host an entire month dedicated to the pairing of our two favorite half galra boys!

The event will be held in January of 2020. The prompt list will likely be posted by or during November to allow for enough time for people to plan and perhaps start posting their creations.

The event will be hosted here by our three lovely mods (Mod Satan, Mod Sylla, and Mod Cucu). Our ask box is open if you have any questions or want to suggest a prompt.

Hmmm, it’s hard to pick just one … Perhaps the fact that Keith will often spoon Lotor from behind, and put a kiss right between Lotor’s shoulderblades, where a knife would go if Keith were anyone else, and the fact that Lotor enjoys this. In turn, Lotor likes to kiss Keith’s palm, or the inside of his wrist, right over his pulse. (He also sometimes like to kiss behind Keith’s ears since Keith is ticklish there, but Keith’s not so fond of that one.) Also that Keith is always the first to initiate a kiss, a physical declaration of how he feels, whereas Lotor spins beautiful words to confess his feelings (and is usually the first to do that.) Also that Lotor gets cold easily, but Keith has a lot of natural warmth, so sometimes Lotor will hold Keith as his own personal space heater. And then there’s the Galra traditions of engagement and marriage as well …

Like I said, it’s hard to pick just one.

18.) Did you ever dislike one or both of them?

Nope. Before season three (and particularly season four) aired I thought Lotor was going to be a villain / evil, but even then I didn’t dislike him. In fact, I was rather excited to finally have an intelligent villain on the show aside from Haggar, who never did anything because she always ceded power to Zarkon for some reason. Once Lotor revealed that he had heroic goals despite being an antagonist to Team Voltron (who, let’s be honest, often act as villains in their own right despite the show’s protagonist-centered morality), I loved him just as much as before, albeit in a different way. As for Keith, well, he was my favorite the second he set off those bombs outside the Galaxy Garrison and rode up on his hoverbike. I distinctly remember saying, “I found him. That’s the boy,” the second he showed up. So there was never a moment when Keith was anyone other than my favorite character. Not even for a second.

20.) What made you decide to ship them?

I think the moment I definitively started shipping them was when Lotor saved Keith’s life at the end of season four. That opened possibilities for them to work together and get to know each other (at least for those of us with any shred of common sense, i.e. no one on the VLD writing staff), and once I started imagining how they’d interact along with all the parallels that were drawn between their characters and their stories, everything just fell into place naturally. I honestly think they’re the best and brightest power couple that universe ever saw, and while part of me wants to say it’s a crime they never met and formed a bond in canon, canon was so terrible that at this point it’s almost a blessing they never met properly. (Though Keith did return the favor and save Lotor’s life in season five, and with a flying tackle hug (albeit one that sent them both crashing down a flight of stairs, away from an explosion) no less.) Either way, canon can go burn in the dumpster fire where it belongs. I started seriously shipping them after season four and I’ve proudly never looked back.
