Fourth James and Lily Week

Hello everyone! (Yes, this is really happening) As usual, before I start talking about the themes I’d like to thank you all for participating on the three other weeks I’ve promoted a few (okay, a lot of) years back, they were wonderful and this one wouldn’t be happening without your support back then. 

This week is canon based and focuses mostly on “Jily’s Firsts”. There’s a theme alternative on each day and, as usual, you may choose to do whichever one you prefer or both. The Third Canon Week will start on February 27th and it’ll end on March 5th.

Special thanks to Nai and Han for literally everything, without them this week wouldn’t be happening.

Hi everyone! Welcome to fyeahjamesandlily’s first annual jily secret santa!

What is a Jily Secret Santa, you may ask? Basically, everyone who agrees to take part will be paired up with someone else from the jily fandom in order to create a gift for them and promote the holiday spirit.

How to apply:

You will be expected to create some sort of content, be it fanfiction, graphics, fanart, fanmix, gifsets, poetry, depending on what your assignment requests, as well as a list of tropes they will like to see. If you cannot fulfill your assignment for any reason in particular, please alert us immediately.

Gifts will begin to be posted on December 25th, with the intended receiver tagged/ notified. All participants and their gifts will be revealed on December 30th. (full schedule can be found here)

A/N: So I told @thearcherballet at @hpshipweeks that I would write one more for free week.  My thanks to @jenahid, @barmy-owl, and @rongasm (who is away doing schoolwork.) for their assistance on this one.

For those of you in Bristol, this fic is Rated T.

She wanted to scream like a fucking banshee.  It would make up for the smothering silence in the bloody house.

Ron and Hermione were gone, two days now to Australia and bugger them for it.  Harry was away at the ministry and hadn’t come home in three days.  His constant moping didn’t help her temper in the least, having yelled at him and his chronic apologies the last time she saw him.  But then they weren’t dating either, not since Harry was still trying to come to terms that he lived through the nightmare known as Voldemort.

Charlie?  He went home to Romania and his beloved dragons.  George and Percy? They were staying in Percy’s flat in London and sod them both for bailing out of the house.  Dad was at work while Bill was working in the Ministry along with Fleur, but they were staying at their own home, which left her with Mum who hadn’t come out of her room in four days.

She could scream bloody murder and no one would be arsed.  She had screamed bloody murder and no one cared.

For @hpshipweeks . As always, these are older and a lot are before we got clarification on the spelling of Astoria’s name so the spelling is Asteria. Also I totally am recommending my own fics.

“Fuck,” Draco said again, experimentally. “You said a dirty word again!” the scandalized unicorn gasped. Draco suddenly felt the urge to curse up a storm, just to see what would happen, but he didn’t dare risk it inside the shop.

The Truth of the Matter by BirdG (PG-13) Family and blood, that was what was important. She had been taught that as a girl and she believed it to this day.The Blacks and the Malfoys were wizarding Britain. There wasn’t a pure-blood family of worth they weren’t related by either blood or marriage. Her son was the sole scion to both and that was something even a self-righteous upstart like Asteria Greengrass could understand.

In Loneliness by Slam_Girl (NC-17)  Hell is other people. Or at least that was what Draco overhead two Muggles saying in what seemed to be an enthusiastic exchange, one of them shaking a book at the other. That statement seemed a rather fitting explanation for his whole life and current troubles. It would certainly explain why he was sitting in a Muggle café at that moment, killing time until he got on the Muggle tube to his mind-numbing job.

And The World Turns ‘Round by Realmer06 (PG-13) I did my best to be the dutiful daughter, but the more time I spent in Draco Malfoy’s presence, the less I liked him. And I spent quite a lot of my childhood in his presence.He was mean more often than not, and could be downright cruel when the mood took him. He was also the most spoiled and arrogant child I’d ever known, never without a little sneer on his face. He treated everyone as if he were above them, which, if my parents’ opinions of his family were any indication, I guess he sort of was. 

Antipathy by Shu of the Wind (PG-13) Later on, Draco Malfoy realized the first time he noticed Astoria Greengrass - really noticed her, instead of exchanging casual greetings the common room or recognizing her out of the corner of his eye while Pansy chatted with Daphne - was over the Christmas holidays of his seventh year.

He had been lying on his four poster bed, staring up at the stone ceiling as the screams of a student crept through the cracks in the walls, teasingly faint but somehow keeping him awake.

A Potion By Any Other Name by Idea of Sarcasm (NC-17)  Sometimes, when Asteria was looking at Pansy Parkinson, she felt like she was looking at a remarkably older woman, somebody who had been around a lot longer than the two years she predated Asteria. When nobody was looking, the lines seemed to settle into her face when she seemed to drop whatever facade she had chosen. They weren’t particularly close on their own, but Daphne had been caught in the woman’s orbit for years, a willow bent to the strength of the other woman’s seemingly unflinching backbone. 

Chase This Light by Lady Altair (PG-13)  They are terribly girly cigarettes, too thin between his fingers, too fresh in his mouth, but the motion, the habit is enough. Astoria smokes hers with determination, looking with an almost cross-eyed intensity out over the MacMillan estate. The cinder-tipped cylinder in her hand is an anachronism to her elegant, old-fashioned robes, her dark brown hair pinned up in lacquered curls at least a hundred years out of modern fashion; the white paper is like a black oil smear on some pastel-shaded portrait. She looks like an old china doll, dressed in sage-green silk and thick dust, only twenty in years but rather ageless and inanimate in her sea-glass eyes; a doll in an attic with a quiet but nearly tangible sense of unhappiness in a cloud about her.

The House That Cedric Built by Anna Fugazzi (NC-17)  Draco put down his fork and sat back, glaring at her. There wasn’t any point in arguing with Asteria when she got like this. She was the epitome of Slytherin, and would do whatever it took to get his cooperation. He might as well face it. He was going to give in eventually, just to get her and Hermione off his back once and for all. That didn’t mean he had to like it, though. Or make it easy for her. “Why is this so bloody important to you?” he asked, exasperated.

Old Long Since by BirdG (NC-17) “You look beautiful,” he told her, for want of anything better. She was dressed to the nines in what had to be a new gown of black lace over white silk, her dark hair straightened and pulled back and her green eyes rimmed in kohl. It wasn’t hard to imagine later, after she had let her hair down, her face flushed, lipstick smeared, and eyes shining bright as pulled off her black gloves and asked him for help in unzipping her dress.But it wouldn’t be him she would be asking.

“Thank you,” Astoria said politely.

Act Two / Final Act by HalfASlug (PG-13) “More than the relief that the whole ordeal is over and the guilt over feeling nothing for the man who, whether he liked it or not, raised him and with whom he shares more similarities than he will ever admit, he’s scared,” said quietly as she started slowly walking over to him, like a lion and its prey.It didn’t seem to matter how hard Draco cleared his mind and applied all the other techniques his aunt had taught him, Occlumency wasn’t working. She was somehow reading him like a book. It was like looking into a mirror and seeing his true self for the first time. If she didn’t stop now, then what would be left of him?
