i don’t trust basically any video of a human interacting with a wild animal unless there is accompanying confirmation that the animal isn’t stressed.

if a wild animal is in a home environment and it seems like it’s being treated more like a pet than a rescue, and the op has no qualifications listed… i don’t trust it. why is someone keeping an otter in their home? why are they feeding it kibble? why are they cuddling it? it’s a wild animal. it’s not meant to be cared for by humans in that way - it hasn’t been bred over centuries to, like dogs and cats and ferrets.

there’s a huge difference in behavior and comfort between domesticated animals and wild animals, even if we’re unable to understand that as laymen. what looks like playing could very well be distress. we anthropomorphize animals in order to make sense of them, but it doesn’t mean we’re right.

spreading videos of wild animals being mistreated - however “cute” and “harmless” you might assume it is - encourages people to ignorantly terrify creatures for fun and fame. be cautious and suspicious; just because it has a lot of notes doesn’t mean it’s humane. check the notes. be responsible.
