The whole film took me altogether about 5 grueling months (usually 10-12hours a day) to do. I often felt my butt was going to grow into the chair I usually sat at.

Please note that this was simply my way of doing my film to achieve the soft-shaded style I wanted; there are many other ways of doing this and some are a lot faster with different results~! :)

This tut differs a bit from my dA version, because tumblr lets me put the combination of gifs and jpegs :D.

Here’s a book that will really help you start animating:

here’s some books that are good for composition, storytelling and colours:

I hope these helped

I ask that no one removes the credit or source for this tutorial/guide please. thanks :)

My process for all the paisley armchair pictures. I sometimes forgot to save iterations regularly, so they’re a bit uneven (especially the blue one).

Sorted in the order they were made.

Hey everyone! I decided that today I’m going to share with you all my tips for time management! Throughout high school, being a member of a sports team and being involved in clubs and volunteer work made me have a lot of stuff to manage on top of multiple advanced classes. Over the years, I’ve developed what I consider to be really good time management and was able to have work done in advance of the due date. I’m very proud of the time management skills I’ve developed and want to share with you all my tips for time management in hopes of helping you guys improve your own work balance!

Why Time Management Is Important

  • It allows you to do more with the time you have each day and be more productive.
  • You are less stressed and have more time for self care/love.
  • You can spend less time on school work outside of the classroom.
  • You have more time to dedicate towards family and friends.

My Tips

  • Use your free time wisely! While it is important to take time for yourself, it can be very beneficial to spend free time in between classes working on assignments.
  • Start early! This goes for everything; the sooner you start something, the sooner you’ll finish and be able to work on things you’d rather do.
  • When working on something (like an assignment), spend that time fully dedicated to it and avoid procrastinating. This will make the assignment take much less time than it would typically when you are not fully immersed in the work.
  • Use a planner! It can be a bullet journal, a physical planner, an app, or an online calendar; as long as you are using something to keep track of your activities and school work you will automatically be managing your time better.
  • Plan your school work into your schedule. It’s different for everyone depending on your schedule and when you are busiest, but for me I was always busy with school and practice during the week so I would actively choose to spend my weekends working on school assignments so that during the week, I have less to do.

These are my tips for time management! I hope you guys enjoyed my advice and will find it useful to implement into your own lives! Feel free to add on any of your own tips and let me know if you have any questions!

Writing Exercises for Stretching Your Style Muscles

There’s a lot of writing advice on the internet, and a lot of writing prompts, but something I see relatively little of is an idea of how to actually practice.

The thing about learning a skill is that it requires practice – but practicing will only get you so far if you’re just doing the same thing over and over. you might get better at doing that specific thing, but it can seem really difficult to get over a specific hurdle to accomplish some new thing you’ve never tried. I think a really common frustration is wanting to do a thing, and knowing what your end goal looks like, but not knowing actually how to accomplish it.

So that’s where practicing specific skills can really help you to feel more comfortable with your abilities.

Here are some skills exercises I recommend experimenting with to gain proficiency and comfort in writing things.

—–

Write the Same Scene from Multiple POVs

Write a scene in 3rd person POV. Then go back and rewrite it from scratch in 1st person. Repeat for a 3rd person omniscient. Go deeper than just swapping out pronouns. Think: How does this scene change if I’m writing through the eyes of a single character vs over their shoulder? How does this scene change if I’m narrating the events through Character B instead of Character A?

—-

Write a Scene in Present Tense

Present tense bumps up the immediacy level of whatever you’re writing. I think it also helps to break you from more passive sentence constructions. Try taking a scene you’ve written and rewrite it in present tense. Combine it with the above – try switching a 3rd person past to 1st person present, or even try writing in 2nd person.

—–

Try Mimicking Another Writer’s Style

Sit down with a piece of writing from an author you enjoy, and pay attention to the writing itself. Ignore the plot and characters and story elements – look at just the nuts and bolts of vocabulary choices and sentence construction. Try to pick it apart. Is there a specific way the author tends to use commas? Certain words, or types of words, that they use more often? Longer sentences or shorter ones? Longer paragraphs or short? How is white space handled?

Study that and make yourself a little cheat sheet if that’s helpful to you. Then try writing a short piece – just a couple paragraphs, even – in their writing style.

—-

Describe an Entire Scene Without Using Visual Description

Imagine you’re writing a blind character, if it helps, or someone who’s been blindfolded. Describe a whole scene built entirely around the way things sound, smell, taste, feel. Try to make it clear what’s happening through description alone.

—–

Eliminate All Words like “Thought” or “Felt”

Write in deep-3rd or 1st person without any filter words. Make a character’s opinions and emotions obvious through the way things are being described without explicitly saying what they’re thinking or feeling. If you struggle with this, it might be easier to start in first person – write as a diary entry or even a Tumblr post from that person’s perspective – and then try it in 3rd person after you’ve had a bit of practice.

——-

Set Yourself a Specific Goal, and Write a Drabble to Achieve it

When I wrote “Happy Ending,” my entire goal was to write something that was highly descriptive in the most viscerally gross way possible. When I wrote “Mothman,” it was an exercise in writing something sexualized without explicitly being sexual, in the most disturbing way possible.

This is an exercise in word choice. It’s an excuse to bust out your thesaurus, not to sound fancy, but to nail a specific meaning. It’s also an exercise in choosing what details to focus on and which to exclude.

One way to approach this exercise is to describe something common and mundane that you’ve experienced, and write it in several different ways. Let’s say, eating a sandwich. How can you make eating a sandwich sound sexy? How can you make it sound disgusting? Which details do you focus on, and which do you omit? What words do you use to evoke the meaning you’re looking for?

—————————————————————

I hope these writing exercises give you some inspiration on things to try out to flex your creative wings a bit!

So which Pride and Prejudice should you watch?

(Disclaimer: They’re all wonderful in their own way.)

BBC Mini Series from 1995:

Pros:

  • The most realistic of the options at hand
  • Gives you nearly six hours to give the story the time it deserves
  • Has the time to give you all of the characters without feeling rushed
  • The characters are adorable (or annoying depending on needs Mr. Collins), but they aren’t godlike. It’s great to see real people on screen
  • You actually get to see Lydia and Mr. Wickham hiding from their family which I don’t see in any other adaptation?
  • More time is dedicated to Mr. Darcy’s point of view
  • Mrs. Bennet is perfect
  • Collin Firth (according to fandom)

Cons:

  • I personally have an issue with some the music even though its still admittedly good
  • It does take about six hours to get through, though you can take a break between each episode
  • If you’re looking for fluff, this is the least fluffy version of the lot
  • Probably has the most muted colors of the three, but it’s also from 1995 so…

Pride and Prejudice 2005 (with Keira Knightley)

Pros:

  • Talk about a bi dream world
  • This is definitely the fluffy one
  • Probably the easiest one to sit down and watch all at once as it is a movie
  • Elizabeth walking across a field to meet Darcy where he proposes is such a dream sequence
  • It flows rather nicely as a story and certainly does the story justice for the time its given
  • Keira Knightley is a wonderful actress in my opinion

Cons

  • The music is rather repetitive, you could replace the soundtrack with one song and be close to the current one
  • Probably goes the least in depth of the three
  • Kitty and Mary don’t get as much focus as they deserve
  • You don’t get quite the sense that a bunch of time is passing
  • Feels much less real than the other two

Pros:

  • Definitely the easiest to watch if you only have a  few minutes here and there
  • This is a thoroughly modern version, so keep that in mine
  • Stays loyal to the story while making it modern. There’s no question that this is Pride and Prejudice
  • Charlotte is fucking adorable
  • Lydia has an amazing character arc that fits in a more modern sense and is PERFECT
  • Georgiana is the cutest thing I have ever seen
  • Lizzie encompasses the young adult in this day and age
  • I think they all have Twitters which is really neat?
  • Fitzwilliam is a joy

Cons:

  • There are several characters you never get to meet like her mother and father, only second hand
  • It is very Lizzie centric (which I like), and that’s obvious, but it means that you get more of her than you will than in any other adaptation and less of everyone else
  • Kitty does not exist
  • Mary does exist, but as a cousin rather than a sister (because most people don’t have 5 kids in this day and age)

I honestly can’t speak highly enough of any of these, especially the Lizzie Bennet Diaries which is just such a unique take on the series.

SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT

So if a teenager is at school for roughly 8 hours, and they are doing homework for 6+ hours, and they need AT LEAST 9 HOURS OF SLEEP FOR THEIR DEVELOPING BRAINS, then they may have 0-1 hours for other activities like eating, bathing, exercise, socializing (which is actually incredibly important for emotional, mental, and physical health, as well as the development of skills vital to their future career and having healthy romantic relationships among other things), religious activities, hobbies, extra curriculars, medical care of any kind, chores (also a skill/habit development thing and required by many parents), relaxation, and family time?  Not to mention that your parents may or may not pressure you to get a job, or you might need to get one for economic reasons.

I will never not reblog this

“…but teenagers have no reason to be stressed.”

hey did you know anxiety levels in high school teens are actually as high as they were in insane asylum patients in the 1950’s? :)
