real q for the tiva fandom do y'all like absolute AUs where they're not even remotely in the law enforcement field (and never were) or do people in the fandom generally prefer things that are deeply rooted in canon?

bc i don't remember reading a lot of AUs but i like to read them (and also write them) (if i get around to it, that is)

and the one true AU fic i wrote is one of my favorites but it is sadly very underrated so i'm wondering if this is just a preference of the fandom as a whole?

Okay so very honest opinion: i’m personally not very into very different from canon AU’s solely for the fact that i fell in love with the characters and their environment as a whole. This said, there are a few exceptions like canon divergeces, for example a different way things could have gone from a x moment on.

BUT i am really curious if i might change my mind reading one right now, because i like the idea of “in every universe, in every lifetime we would have found eachother” type of things. So why not.

Ditto, never was really my cup of tea. I've read some (for other fandoms) though that incorporate memory loss or some kind of vivid dream that make it work for me, but it's a very delicate balance. Canon divergence, I like, that can go pretty AU. But yeah, I feel like their history in canon is so ingrained in why I like them as a character, that AUs just don't capture my attention.

But I know others do like it! Don't let potential reader interest stop you! (where's that Stan Lee quote about having good ideas?)

I appreciate these responses, truly. I have zillions of ideas but I'm also very far removed from canon at this point since I haven't watched a single episode since 2013 (enjoyment ruined by The Incident and never returned, sadly).

I guess part of it is, yeah, I like writing things for myself. Telling the stories I want to tell, but also it's really satisfying to put it out there for the fandom and see their reactions and I won't lie that it feels bad to put a lot of heart into something and get ... nothing. So I guess that's partially my fear if I write and post something that's purely AU, though when I looked at my WIP/ideas folder the other night I was surprised just how much of their stuff is canon-based.

Devastating fires in Veracruz, Mexico. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

For those who don't know me, I am Arantxa and I am from Veracruz, Mexico. On Saturday, March 22rd, the region that is called the High Mountains in the state of Veracruz, Mexico started suffering from fires that proved to be fast and all consuming. Although the area is not immune to them as we live in a primarily woody landscape, especially in Spring, this time its different because both our State Government and the Federal Government are doing basically nothing to help. The country itself has other fires but the lack of response from the authorities has made us, locals, try to combat them with what we have.

Mexican people are used to face adversity with our head held high but this is one of those times we cannot do it alone. A friend and I have been working with people who are not able to go to the affected areas that are donating things to help not only the people directly affected by this but also to the tenths of volunteers, brigadiers and finally, the Marines and Army who have tirelessly worked to put the fires out. Sadly, the fires continue but we're facing another great challenge: rebuild. We need a lot of things to help people that lost everything to rebuild their lives: clothes, food, materials to rebuild their houses. Apart from that we need to reforest the over 5k acres of destroyed land. It's a long process and that's why I come here to ask for your help.

Whether you can help with a bit of your spare money or maybe sending things yourselves or reblogging, please do so. We are basically alone in this, the people that are suffering directly from this need your help. I will leave two images, both in English and Spanish so you can share it and the message gets to whoever needs to get. Please let us know if you want to help in any way and please do know that even a prayer on our way is accepted.
