Fun fact! Having a job every day is actually a fairly new thing.

In olden times, people had daily chores and other things to do but their workload/ daily working hours was actually much lower than it is today. Even in farming communities.

The concept of working super hard every day actually comes from capitalism, which in turn comes from Puritanical ideology.

The Puritans believed in salvation through work and in no play.

Early capitalists adopted this ideology because it meant higher productivity and therefore more money if their factories were running near constantly.

The idea of needing to be continuously productive in order to be useful/ allowed things like food and shelter, is actually quite an insidious ideal that is deeply rooted in the American culture.

4 day work weeks have actually proven to be more productive than the 5 day week. But corporations won't adopt it willingly because it means less of a stranglehold on their workers.

Found an Esmeralda figure second hand! She has a great sculpt which conveys her sass, a great face (so many mini figures have wonky faces), lots of painted details (like her anklet and tambourine). She’s made of that old school rubber I remember from toys in my childhood. Cons: she can’t stand on her own so she has to lean against my Aurora figurine, which means they’re besties now. And also, her skin tone is way too light and pink for Esmeralda (the pinkness does not come through that well in pictures) which is a shame when they paid so much attention to detail to the rest of her. Overall I’m very pleased though! Hunchback is my favourite Disney movie 💕 If anyone has any info on what kind of set she’s originally from, I’d love to know!

"The best Disney soundtrack is --"

Shut up. I'm going to stop you there. You're wrong. If the words coming out of your mouth are not "Hunchback of Notre Dame" you're just going to look stupid. You got the choir hitting every goddamn note that humans can produce. You got chanting in Latin. The fucking bells. The full orchestra going as if Alan Menken would systematically come after their families if they didn't play harder. If those 15th century bitches in the film could actually hear the score playing in the background they'd all shit themselves and be on their knees venerating god. Frozen fucking who
