From water hoses to police dogs to tear gas to rubber bullets (to real bullets!). The LA/Rodney King/Latasha Harlins riots. May 15th, 1970- the black students protesting Vietnam at Jackson State whose violent murders were overshadowed by the rightful horror of the Kent State shootings. Hell, the time Trump had all those BLM protestors tear gassed so he could have his Bible photo op. That was just 2020! It really makes me feel like y'all were not really listening during that whole "2020 BLM summer".
For some Canadian context, there's the Sir George Williams Affair in which the school allowed riot police to break into the building Black student protestors were peacefully occupying. They were savagely beaten and harassed and 97 of the protestors were arrested. When a fire broke out amidst the confusion, onlookers in the street chanted "Let the niggers burn!" This happened in 1969 Montreal.
This is honestly a wild statement to make imo, bc why do y'all act like kids don't have to experience these things live action. That there aren't kids as the target demographic of death. Kids experience war and devastation. Latasha was a kid. I was a middle school teen when my neighbor said teenager Mike Brown was a thug who deserved to die. I was a teenager when teenager Trayvon Martin was murdered. It begs the question; whose kids have the privilege of not knowing these things?

"They were 8 years old during Ferguson" A 4 year old was in the car when Philando Castile was shot 7 times by a cop in 2016. Black children can witness police brutality when they're barely old enough to attend kindergarten. It is a privilege to be able to be so ignorant of the world around you as a child, and it's a choice to stay ignorant of the world as an adult.

hi. so as many of you know, i am currently unhoused and staying at a dv shelter. its very inaccessible for me here, but there isn't space anywhere else. i have been super sick the last few weeks due to an occult uti (i have a surgical catheter) and have been struggling to keep up with everything. my storage is now nearly 2 weeks past due and my belongings are scheduled to be auctioned off. i am also out of food stamps until the 8th. my klarna payment is due on the 3rd (rescheduled it) and i need to pay that so i have the option of klarna for necessities
i need $265 for storage (with late fee). klarna is $55. not sure how much food thru the 8th would cost, but anything helps 🫶🏽
