favorite fics/authors you've read?

i don't read a lot of fanfiction on nct writerblr since a lot of it's quite short for me, and i'm someone that likes to immerse myself in longer works. that being said, i have a few authors who i can recommend that truly make my experience on this site unique!:

@insomni-writing - i've only read "prodosia" and she and i have briefly talked about what's to come with the series, but overall she was able to captivate me with 2k words of an introduction. i've stated in my review of "prodosia" that somni's writing style is very "old school," and it reminds me of the greats such as dostoyevsky. she is a writer that captures imagery as if she's planting works of art in your head, and the way she uses words to paint a picture is honestly one of the best i've ever seen so far.

@wincore - i know she isn't active anymore but reading "atlas" has brought me back to writing on this site. her pacing is really good, and every word felt like a movie. it was so easy for me to visualize what was going on for each portion/chapter of the fic, and the only way i could describe her writing is fluid. there's so much fluidity to the way she uses words and i'm frankly in absolute awe and adoration for her style.

@neonun-au - please read "ritual." i've written a pretty long review of it on my fic rec blog, @dhoyagaorecs, and i stand by what i say when i tell you that mads is an incredibly prolific storyteller. with the introduction alone, she's able to pull you in to the world and setting of the story, and she keeps you hooked with each plot progression. the way she builds suspense in the fic too has one of the best pacing i've seen so far on this site, and the symbols she weaves into the fic is just breathtakingly immaculate.

@jungwooisms - i've yet to write a review for "gekokujou" but anon, please read it. she's a writer i admire with a single work alone, because she's able to, in my opinion, accurately portray historical fiction in a way that feels so real. she's able to craft a world i've never been in and make me live in it. from reading the intro of "hwarang," i can personally come to the conclusion that historical works are her strong suit. i'm pretty sure she does heaps of research to make sure each word fits the setting, and i admire her for that.

@zhongriot - "summer daze" is her magnum opus. she writes heartbreak and dialogue in the most real and scarringly painful way possible. i have a personal bias towards it since the situation in the fic is something i empathize with so well, but for her to communicate the characters' emotions so well at such a young age deserves a standing ovation. truly, she's just begun, and i'm sure if she keeps writing she'll be able to reach further heights.

@odentist - i haven't written a review for "love me harder" yet, and if you're a minor please don't interact with any of her works. if you're not, however, yuri is the writer for you. it's a breath of fresh air to have such dark themes written with so much emotional weight, and i love how most of her fics have a sense of realism in terms of dialogue. when i read "love me harder," i could hear the characters speak to me as if i was in the same room as them, idly watching, if that makes sense.

@nakamotocore - i know i say i read longer works, but to be honest, ie is a writer for you if you want beautiful, bite-sized works that are easily digestible. i know a lot of us are quite busy with our lives, but ie's blurbs have so much intensity and weight to them despite having such a short word count. if that type of thing is up your alley, i suggest giving her collection a binge. she's an enigma.

the list above are authors i've read from, but i'm yet to immerse myself in other fascinating writers' works such as @radiorenjun, @lebrookestore, and @byutafy. from stalking their masterlist, i was able to find so many works that i really wanna get into, such as brooke's "love shot" and "supporting characters," angie's "my first and last" and "twisted strings," and fei's "seoul 2463" series. please check them out too! from the summaries in their masterlist alone, i'm sure you're able to immediately go on a binge of their works!

from brooke, i've read a fic called "five star michelin" that i'm currently writing a review for. i'll get back to you once i finish collecting all my thoughts for that fic, but for now all i'm gonna say is that i highly recommend giving it a read.

@junepops also has a fic called "menagerie" that i really want to read, and will get onto reading when i have the time to do so. please check it out when you can!

another author that has caught my eye is @yangyangify who, like me, writes in third-person on the site. i've yet to read her works, but so far, "silver" is also a fic i've been meaning to read. please check her out too!

ohohohoho anonnie you’ve given me the perfect break activity since i’ve been agonizing over my wips. also i’m sorry that they’re most likely all gna be nct. 

@en-see-tee with hyuck. she’s a little shit but i feel like hyuck can shut her up once and for all. they’d bully each other as their love language. they also have an extremely soft and caring side underneath the evil, which negates all the bullying they'd do to each other. like one second they're calling each other insults and the next they're crying on the floor telling one how much they love the other.

@zhongriot and lele. look i’m not saying this because lele’s her bias, but i feel like they’d make a great couple. they’re not evil, they’re just loud and annoying. they also have their personal brand of humor that fits well. lele changing his bubble to "daddy <3" sounds like something janna would do.

@insomni-writing with jaehyun. museum dates, coffee by the thames, all that romantic stuff. somni and jae i feel are romantics at heart, so it’s natural that i pair them together. 

@hyuckdove with shotaro. you both do dance, and you’d probably take ulzzang couple photos by the riverbank together. matching outfits are also something i can definitely see. idk you probably know what i’m talking about but thrifting at shimokitazawa, strolling through omotesando - you get the drill. 

@m-monstax with jungwoo. chaotic. speaks to each other in memes and will probably do a birds of paradise styled mating dance in the middle of the street after seeing it on bbc nature or sth. 

@stayinzencity with jisung. both of you can be shy at first, but i feel like you’d be the chillest couple ever once you get comfortable. vivi is also a certified uwu girl, and i’m picturing a lot of arcade dates where he tries to win a plushie for you. 

@renhyucks with taeyong. ate you need someone to take care of you and make sure you’re okay, while giving you enough space for you to focus on yourself. deep talks with taeyong while he tells you everything will be alright in the end is something i can definitely see. 

@kopikokun with xuxi. i feel like arin would benefit from a himbo who’d laugh at her jokes 24/7 365. ngl arin’s snarkiness and her love language being clowning xuxi while he just allows her to would be a cute dynamic. 

@itsapapisongo with kunhang. oh man you two are very chaotic. not the chaotic evil with tai and snoopy, but a good kind. impulse-buying spidersuits and proudly walking around the streets in them, trying to shoot web by spraying each other with silly strings, only to immaturely laugh at the euphemism. great match indeed. 

@saltaeyong with jaemin. i don’t mean to offend her, but bonnie seems like a girl with a glass heart. knowing jaemin, i’m sure he’ll take care of you and make you feel special when you’re feeling like you’re at your worst. 

@doievoir with the one and only doyoung. i’m sensing power couple vibes here since yin, you sound very feisty with the “independent woman” energy.

these are the ones i talk to the most, so i have a better grasp of their personalities and whatnot. i’m sorry if my answers are underwhelming <33
