Victorian Tear Catchers

During the Victorian era, mourners sometimes collected their tears in gold decorated “tear bottles” to keep as a remembrance for the next of kin. It has also been said that the widows would go to the grave on the anniversary of the first year of death and sprinkle the tears on the grave to signify the end of the first year of mourning.

Crepuscularum

((guest written by my friend @rimeshard !)) At the Tournament of Ages, I met a budding herbologist and student of the alchemical arts, that was kind enough to bring me a delightful box of precious hybrids and cultivar. Miss Riley Rimeshard and I struck up a deal. She may beckon my familiar, the flying fox Herman, when she so wishes to deliver her discoveries and herbal learnings to my doorstep. She has particular interest in the cross-breeding and transplantation of wild cultivar.

I am pleased to report the first donation of knowledge arrived swiftly!

- Greaves of the Greywood, author of an Alchemical and Herbal Guide to Azeroth and Beyond.

Riley’s Sojourns Series : Crepuscularum

[ crep•pus•KEW•lar•uhm ]

Physical Description :: A rare, dusky purple-black flower similar to that of a large dahlia in visibility, with a white marking in the center of the petals, spreading outwards, resembling a grinning skull and stretched crossbones.

Methodology :: The crepuscularum is grown and treated best as a common fungi, and at its heart, can be seen as a carnivorous plant despite the lack of entrapment-based parts - likely the result of a good-natured, naturalized attempt to ward against the plague of Undeath in a macabre fashion. When the fully grown crepuscularum is disturbed, it emits a cloud of paralytic pollen that completely halts the movement of any undead creature’s remaining muscle structures, or shadow magics that animate them; but is harmless in full to the living and their own respiratory systems. Not only will this flower paralyze with its pollen, its focus is reproducing asexually within the clammy and cloyed skin of its fallen prey in order to eat away with enzymed roots the muscle tissues and fats to nourish its blossoms.

Location Found :: Commonly found within the heart of the Eastern Plaguelands, sprouting near necropoli to capitalize on ill-fated wandering ghouls and geists, the rarest outcroppings of crepuscularum are those found on fallen and rotting abominations; seen as a fortuitous bounty by the living, the entire plant, roots and all, can carefully be cultivated if sliced free from the pulpy housings they’ve sprouted from.

Harvesting Method :: It’s best to allow a collector that has never physically touched or come into contact with the shade of death to handle crepuscularum, as the further familiar one is with the Shadowlands, the weaker the pollen will be to defend against its intended prey (rendering its reproduction method thus weakened). Those who are afflicted by darkness in any fashion - Death Knights, necromancer-raised, fallen and given new life in any regard - should not handle bulbs of the Crepuscularum without layers of protection on all exposed skin - including eyeholes or lichfire sockets.

Uses :: Crepuscularum has a modicum of practical uses - its obvious defense in cloying poisonous pollen aside, young roots are rich in starches and can be treated as the common household potato - stewed, boiled, fried and baked. The bitter extract of the petals themselves increase appetite to a level of ravenous, ghoul-like hunger if overdosed. When boiled low and slow, with the evaporation within seaglass, the condensation collected can serve in cosmetics as a yellow dye; perfumed water, with a rich, loamy scent of petrichor; and upper-class compact powder (but absolutely only for the living).

Hi, just had an urge to browse this and wanted to clear up a rumor. "Arathi Rapist" is innocent. The screenshot takes them out of context. By "sleep" she meant quite literally to sleep next to the person. The wording was really poor and easy to manipulate against them, but they're not guilty of what they're accused of. That's all! Have a good morning.

You know, instead of telling people how to think - you could always submit the screenshot and let them decide for themselves. I’m not really sure how “I started kissing on someone without their consent and the slipped into their bed without their consent,” isn’t sexual assault. This isn’t poor wording.

mmmmyeah. I’m not exactly active on this blog but this is worth seeing. this is a huge headache that really could have been avoided had this person not swung at zaria unprompted. but now that we’re in the shit-shit, guess we gotta talk about it anyway.  look dudes. you can say “rp is rp” all you want but they’re three things majorly wrong with this.  - the squire in question cannot be oocly contacted, and has quit the game, according to the deleted forum post by seltara.  - a few folks that heard of this thread came out to say “oh yeah, I remember that person. they tried to get me to erp with them. it was uncomfortable.” that’s not great, friends.  - let’s talk about consent and power dynamics. if someone is passed the fuck out, intoxicated, incapacitated, or otherwise altered... they cannot consent. take it from a retired addict. if we want to be technical about it, anything they wouldn’t allow sober is assault. if someone drugged you, kissed you, and you woke up in bed with them, yeah. you’d probably feel pretty fucking weird about that. secondly. if you have power over someone, they also cannot consent. this includes emotional, structural, or fiscal power over another human. a squire and their mentor... yeah, dude. that’s pretty wildly inappropriate.

this might have flown a few years ago as “just ic” but with the surrounding factors, it’s pretty fuckin’ bad any way you slice it. screaming the loudest isn’t gonna make anyone less hip to your shit.
