Literally these people from Gaza have made an account on Tumblr and is writing in english to communicate what they need and you all are coming onto my blog or on the tag and not reblogging their posts. We have people both Palestinian and non Palestinian vetting the fundraisers! I mean more the reblogs, more the chance of the fundraisers gaining momemtum, the more there would be a chance of a donation. again, i'm saying this all in relation to palestine and the cognitive dissonance you'd need to partake in a celebrity showboating event as an escalating genocide unfolds before our very eyes. reflect on that, and reckon with the very real possibility that a majority of these celebrities have not donated even a fraction of what they spent to attend

white jews must always remember that we are white, by the way. that's important.

analyze how claims of antisemitism can be utilized against brown and black people. be critical of these accusations. understand that the way you're viewing palestinians' behavior towards you may be colored by racism. that you may be quick to read an antisemitic intention behind their words that isn't there. remember this and remember it well.

would you have view that action as antisemitic if it came from a white person? or are you being a little over sensitive because they're arab? is the pro-palestine movement really that hostile to you or are you just reading into things with a different, racist lense? and is your criticism of this movement really necessary for your safety or is there something more important we should be concerned with?

antisemitism is obviously an important issue to me. i mean how could it not be?

but the safety of my palestinian kin and the safety of jews of color in my community is also very important to me. consider the ways you could be hurting them before you speak. ask yourself whether what you're saying is truly something that needs to be said and whether your feelings might be impacted by your relative privilege as a white person.

like i'm not saying it's impossible to experience antisemitism from within antizionist spaces. but white jews need to be responsible about how we interpret, identify, and communicate about the antisemitism we're seeing.

one thing i've been seeing that i take particular issue with is the way some people take this perceived antisemitism (whether the actual instances were truly antisemitic or not) and use it to condemn the whole movement. they have a "why i'm leaving the left" moment with it and it only serves to further the propaganda narrative that the antizionist left and palestinians as a people group are inherently antisemitic and should not be tolerated by the general public. if you're experiencing antisemitism from antizionists, talk to them on an individual level. speak to your organizers if you feel unsafe around certain individuals. address the issue with your specific organization or group or community. seek emotional and mental support from other jews and/or allies who you personally trust. it's not necessary in any way to condemn antizionism as a whole when the issue lies in the behavior of specific people in one specific environment that you are part of.

and i also see a lot of oversensitivity. which i mean. in an isolated sense, that's something i understand. the way antisemitism often functions is subtle and pervasive. it's everywhere in little ways. and when you add the way that american jews in particular have been taught by zionist institutions to walk through the world constantly in fear of the people who may attack, to be afraid of all strangers because they could be a nazi in disguise, i get being a little bit touchy on the idea of antisemitism. but when white jews start to apply that emotional reaction to a palestinian liberation movement it gets messy. it doesn't work simply as a fearful victim mentality anymore. when applied to real world intricacies of racial identity and oppression, that fearful victim mentality works its way into the way we carry our whiteness and we end up with the power to endanger our black and brown peers with our crocodile tears, crying antisemitism where there is none. all because we perceived antisemitism from a person of color where we might not have from a fellow white person.

white jews are responsible for the safety of our communities with regard to navigating the threat of antisemitism. obviously that involves recognizing and addressing it where goyim might not have noticed it, but it also involves being able to identify where naming something as antisemitic might be an overreaction or even explicitly racist in intent. and it falls on us to address these events correctly in a way that does not put anyone at risk.
