- Livonian order most likely built the castle in the other half of 14th century to defend the southern borders.
- It has been rebuilt in the 17th century and 20th century.
- On the 18th february 1576, Ties von der Recke took over Jaunpils castle and its region with 14 manors.
- Legends link cruelty to the Recke family.
- Some people who lived in Jaunpils thought that Recke was the Devil himself.
- Matthias von der Recke defeated king of Sweden, but one nobleman -Heinrich Vredde - saved the life of king.
