A/N: I hope you enjoy it. I've never written for the soulmate AU before. I hope I did ok.
Soulmates were a uncommon occurrence in the world these days. Few people were born with a mark on their skin that matched their fated one's, such a trait meant that they were to be together, even more rare were those who had two soulmates.
You were one of the lucky ones to have a soulmate. You had a mark on your upper right side of your back, near your shoulder that formed a dotted ring. You'd always joked that it was a map to your 'hidden treasure'. You weren't even sure your soul mate was out there, let alone, if you would ever meet them, but you took a chance sailing the world. You had traveled from sea to sea, exploring different islands and meeting new people, hoping to find the one you were fated to meet.
It wasn’t until you landed on a small, rather tropical, island that you finally found him. You were wandering through the market, admiring the beautiful flowers and exotic fruits, when you bumped into something hard. You rubbed your aching face and looked up to the obstacle you'd just face planted into. You swore under your breath as you looked up. Suddenly your eyes met a rather michevious smile plastered on a face full of freckles. The man's eyes were bright and full of warmth. His dark hair, messy under an orange hat.
“Sorry about that,” the shirtless man said, offering you a hand with a wide grin “I wasn’t looking where I was going.” but you knew that was a lie. You knew it was you that made the mistake of not looking where you were walking.
I-It’s fine' you replied, stuttering, feeling as if your heart was going to leap out of your chest. You were lost in those warm dark eyes of his. You felt a strange twinge in your birthmark. 'Could it be?.......' You thought to yourself.
The dark haired man smiled and introduced himself. 'The name's Ace' he said with his wide grin never wavering. A small blush playing upon his freckled cheeks.
You spent the rest of the day with Ace, exploring the island and getting to know each other. He told you of all the adventures he'd had on the sea, his two goofy, ragtag brothers, and his family and crewmates upon the Moby Dick and, of course, Pop. He also told you about how he ended up with his devil fruit power that allowed him to control fire. You laughed until your sides were sore. His reenactments of his adventures were fascinating and he, by far, had the worst acting skills of anyone you'd ever met. You couldn't help but be rapt up in his stories of adventure and danger. You found yourself falling for him more and more with each passing moment.
As the sun began to set, Ace took you to a secluded spot on the beach and sat down beside you, making himself comfortable in the powdery sand. He took your hand, and placed it to his face. His eyes were soft and a faint smile played upon his lips.
“I’ve been waiting for you, you know.' he said, his voice low and husky. “I knew my adventures would lead me to you one day.'
Ace leaned in and kissed you. His lips roughly pressed to yours. Time seemed to stand still. You felt a surge of emotion that you had never experienced before. It felt as if fireworks were exploding in your chest, and you knew that this was where you were meant to be.
The two of you were inseparable and spent the next few days together, exploring restaurants, bars, the seemingly unending jungles of the island, all the while falling deeper for each other .You knew that you couldn’t stay on the island forever, though you did entertain the idea once or twice. Ace was a pirate. He had a crew that relied on him. He was always searching for new adventures. But you both knew that you couldn’t bear to be apart. The thought of that threatened to rip your heart to shreads.
Ace departed, promising to return in one month. He had to tie up some lose ends, inform his crew and make preparations to be with you. You decided to stay on the island and await his return. You had just enough money to rent a little shack on the outskirts of the bustling island square, on the beach, where you and Ace had parted ways. You had spent the past week in a daze, feeling empty without Ace around. You sat on the sand gazing into the never-ending horizon, hoping that you'd see your love return to you, but you knew that was ridiculous of you to think. You knew he said one month, and it had only been a week. Seven whole days. You didn't know how you were going to make it though.
A few more days had passed and you found yourself in the same spot on the beach everyday. But this time was a little different. You squinted your eyes. 'What in the world is that?' You could barely make out a strange, giant yellow and black....thing coming out of the ocean. 'No way. Is...is that a ship?' You ran back to your house and grabbed your spyglass, sprinting back to see that the 'thing' had surfaced more. You gazed through the glass and the image became cleared. Suddenly you see a hatch on the ship opening. 'CAPTAIN!!!!!!' A shrill shout echoed through the air. '....Is...is that a polar bear?!' You gasped in surprise. The white bear, clad in an orange jumpsuit, continued to shout in distress.
You looked down the shoreline, not knowing what you'd see next. I mean, you've just saw a talking polar bear on a yellow submarine. 'Could this day get any weirded?' You mumbled to yourself. Your eyes raked the coast and stopped on a lifeless figure in the distant sand. You gasped and ran down the beach full speed, tripping a little on the way. You approached the figure...it was a man, dressed in spotted jeans, and a long coat opened in the front revealing his chest covered in interesting tattoos. He was drenched. You poked his lifeless body, in hopes he wasn't dead. He coughed up a mix of blood and water. You hadn't noticed at first, but his left shoulder and arm had been riddled with holes. Blood oozed from the wounds. 'Don't worry,' you said breathlessly, "my place is just up the beach a little. We can dress your wounds there.' The man with the shaggy black hair, grunted and gave a nod. 'Can you stand?' You asked, as you wrapped your arm around his waist and slung his arm around your shoulder.
You drug him back to your home and placed him on your bed. He grunted as he hit the bed, clothes drenched, he let out a wince in pain. You gently removed his jacket, inspecting his arms, back, and shoulders. 'It.....can't be....can it?' You gasped as you ran your hand along a familiar shape on the man's right shoulder. An electric shock ran through your body and his. He winced in pain once more before passing out. You began dressing his wounds, carefully wrapping the bandage around his injured arm. 'Is it possible to have two soulmates?' You thought deeply to yourself. You shook your head, that was a ridiculous thought. You didn't even know this man's name and now you were wondering if he was your second soulmate. You gazed upon his sleeping figure.
His body was toned, covered in tribal heart tattoos. His face held an attractive, grounding sternness. He was the total opposite of Ace. Your heart leaped in your chest, but was quickly replaced by a feeling of guilt. How could you be falling for this mystery man and Ace? You'd never been so torn. Hours passed and the man awoke. You heard him stirring around. 'I see you're awake' you said, popping your head into the bedroom. 'Yeah...' he said in a sullen tone. 'Thank you....for helping me out. The name's Law.' 'Well, Law, it was my pleasure. I couldn't have just let you bleed out on the beach, now could I?' You turned to go to the kitchen. Law’s eyes flashed as you turned around, your birthmark visible. 'Ah...w-wait...' he stuttered. 'Huh?' You turned around meeting his face. 'That birthmark.....' he trailed off. 'Yes, I noticed you have the exact same one.' You blushed, rubbing your birthmark, avoiding eye contact with him. 'I can't believe I finally found you.' He said as he cupped your chin, making your eyes lock with his. Your body jolted with an electrified feeling. He leaned in and pressed his lips softly to yours. At that moment your world stood still.
Law stayed with you for the next few weeks. He explained how he had gotten washed up on the beach. He had been ambushed by the Admiral Kizaru and fell off his ship, the Polar Tang. He explained how his crew had probably been looking for him. You told him you had saw a polar bear shouting from a submarine. He laughed at the expression you had on your face when telling him that. Your time with Law was different than with Ace, you had felt like you'd known him all your life and you were falling hard for him. As Law recovered, the two on you had gotten closer.
The weeks passed and Ace returned. 'Who's this?' He questioned, eying Law. 'Show him" you said to Law. Law flashed the same birthmark as you and Ace had. Tears began to fill your eyes. You didn't know how either of them would react. 'Please...please don't make me chose between the two of you. My heart couldn't bear it. You two both complete me'. You started to sob. Ace rubbed the back of his head and Law let out a sigh. 'Do you really think I'd let a treasure like you go?' Ace smiled and hugged you. 'For you, I can deal with him' Law grinned faintly shaking his head. 'I'm not giving you up.' said Law placing a kiss on your head. You never in a million years though that you'd be lucky enough to have one soulmate, but here you are, as fate would have it, with two.
