on the inside , whatever BEAST to which agathe was referring was currently writhing , seething and simmering in his hot temper , trying desperately to claw his way out . adam and his rational mind , however , knew just how close others were : t'would do NO GOOD to yell at her now . but he could speak soundly , speak quickly , and speak sharply , and he did , with a cold sneer to his lip and a curl to the edge of his nostril . ❛ how DARE , ❜ he hissed , ❛ you think to call me a beast ! you have no place and no right to speak to me in such a manner ! ❜
he took a step towards her , scrutiny in his GLARE as he watched her expression . ❛ i may have told you elsewise , but i’ve decided to retract my statement . if you take issue with that , it’s no longer my concern . i released you weeks ago from my mind ; i’m only telling you NOW . ❜
anger seemed to flare within her, and it was with a straightening of her back that she turned to face him. fingers clenched together into a fist at her side as she attempted to keep herself level-headed. “you think I have no PLACE? no right to state what I see before me? you are no gentleman, there is nothing ‘princely’ about you.” eyes narrowed as she directed her gaze to him again, waiting for his next words - words she knew might well send her over the precipice of rationality she seemed to be currently balanced upon.
so he was ‘retracting’ his statement, ‘releasing her from his mind’. the words were enough to make agathe’s decision for her, and it was with something of an upward twitch of her lips in her anger that she stepped towards him. “you have been deceived by your own cold heart,” she began with a clearing of her throat, stepping towards him as she gathered enough courage to go through with the plan she had begun to form only moments before. her hands shook, yet she attempted to steady them all the same as she pulled a rose from a nearby vase - one of the beautiful roses she had long admired from his garden outside.
roses that only now seemed to further her RAGE.
