you know, mixtape 2 (그림자도 빛이 있어야 존재) is truly one of those songs where you just throw it on when you’re having one of those days. plug in your earphones, lay on your bed as you stare up at your ceiling and just listen to the soft strumming of the guitar, the simple singing pace that they have throughout the song. maybe read the lyrics and let yourself crack a smile when changbin talks about how he’s matured since the beginning or when hyunjin sings about eating chicken together. maybe let yourself get a little teary eyed when minho sings how there’s a light waiting for you, how jisung sings we never give up and that he believes in his family of nine brothers, how felix says he knows he can’t succeed if he feeds off of his negative thoughts, how woojin sings the title of the song even a dark shadow needs light to exist, and how jeongin says he feels tired and exhausted too, but when he looks at the sky he knows that things can’t be dark forever. it’s truly one of those songs where it feels like you’re getting a hug from the nine boys who came together from their love for dance and singing, and it’s one of those songs where you don’t even need to look at the lyrics to feel the embrace because when the nine of them sings the outro together, you can just picture the nine of them singing with a huge smile on their face as if they’re singing it directly to you. take woojin’s lines to heart; “you’ve already come this far, right? such a waste to give up at this point, right? all the hard times will pass, so get rid of all your worries” - ♡
