“Ge, what are you doing here?” Luo Binghe hisses in barely disguised mortification. Zhuzhi-lang doesn’t take it to heart; his young cousin seems to find most things embarrassing at this age. Being a teenager is an eternal struggle.
“Master Shen discovered I had no formal education so he invited me to study under him,” Zhuzhi-lang patiently explains. “Or, well. I suppose I should call him my shizun now.”
“No, you shouldn’t!”
“Why not?”
“Because he’s mine.”
Zhuzhi-lang blinks. Such a fierce response! But he’s read enough of his uncle’s books to understand.
“Binghe need not be jealous.” He pats Luo Binghe’s shoulder. “As your fellow disciple, I would never betray your trust by seducing our shizun before you come of age and can properly fight for his hand.”
Luo Binghe’s eyes flash red and Zhuzhi-lang sidesteps the expected sweep of Zheng Yang with a mild smile.
