ā€œoh we canā€™t hold the Queen accountable for the actions of her ancestors!!!ā€Ā

her ancestors? you mean her dad?Ā

yā€™all realize she was crowned in 1953 right? Nearly 70 years of imperialism with her face stamped on it. Sheā€™s the longest-lived, and longest reigning BritishĀ monarch.Ā

Yā€™all look at her and see a kindly withered old gramma with memeability, but completely ignore the amount of damage that she and her family have done to so manyĀ countries.Ā

ā€œoh well, what did you want her to do, just walk away from it?ā€

yes.Ā

Yes, I doĀ expect people to look at the harm that systems they uphold do to the world at large and then actively refuse to continue their participation in them. I do not believe that is too much to ask of anyone, let alone one of the most powerful women in the entire fucking world.Ā

Sorry that Iā€™m not particularly impressed with her #girlboss legacy when the Indigenous Peoples of Canada and Australia are still feeling the monarchyā€™s effects on their homes and families.Ā

70 years and she never once thought,Ā ā€œHm, maybe imperialism is a bad idea?ā€Ā

I hope the old woman kicks the bucket, and I hope that her family continues to disintegrate until the entire thing comes crumbling down. May independence finally come to the people England has been crushing under its boots for centuries.Ā

Also, itā€™s not even her dad, the Mau Mau Rebellion and the ā€œMalayan Emergencyā€ both ended in like 1960. The British Empire, that she was the head of at the time, used concentration camps to deal with both.

And while this isnā€™t is bad as crimes against humanity, she has also been directly interfering in the drafting of our laws for years we recently found out and then were expected to forget.

What about Northern Ireland, where British soldiers were killing children and civilians in her name?

Yeah, so many horrible things done in her name, under her watch, I forget them all ffs

All of this! Ireland, Scotland, India, Canada, Australia, and so so many others have suffered under the British Empire.

Bruh this bitch was the queen when Nigeria and a bunch of other countries decolonized. Jamaica JUST decided to get her face off they money.

so, yeah. ā€œancestorsā€ my ass

and thatā€™s not mentioning that none of these countries ever got reparations and all of them (as well as pretty much any other third world country) are still victims of british imperialism

People who act aggressive and negative as fuck and then when youā€™re like ā€œhey can you stopā€ theyā€™re like ā€œIā€™m going through some stuff šŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗā€ like damn dude thatā€™s crazy me too - for example right now Iā€™m going through YOUR behavior.

ā€œIā€™m dealing with a lot šŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗā€ and Iā€™m dealing with you so I guess weā€™re even

If your reactions to your trauma or your problems are making other people around you feel unsafe you need new coping mechanisms.

I agree with the message but?! this is tone deaf coming from one of the elitist, most prestigious fashion events in the world. you are rich to even be invited, an event where the ticket is literally $30,000.... Iā€™m gonna eat YOU

None of you people understand the actual reality of how much the ultra-rich hoard. Aoc is not even a blip on the radar of rich. Aoc grew up poor in the bronx and continued to work as a bartender while she was on the campaing trail.

Is she wealthier than the average person? Yeah. No shit sherlock. But does she qualify...as RICH?? My fam...my guy....my bud.....the answer is simply No.

Aoc wants to tax the 1%. The people who can afford to buy space programs, influence elections and send countries to war.

She is not referring to...like....lil nas x here. Shes referring to jeff fucking bezos.

Please learn the difference between BEING WEALTHY (aoc) and being RICH (bezos, gates, etc)

ā€œYouā€™re Not a Good Writer.ā€

I once received a DM comprised of just that sentence. Nothing else. No constructive criticism or any reason as to why this person clearly agreed with my own view of myself.

For someone who has never told anyone in their real life that they write anything, reading something like this from an anonymous user only solidified in my mind the fact that this person was right.

Iā€™m not a good writer.

After an embarrassing amount of minutes passed, in which I thought about deleting every story I ever posted, I decided to delete the message instead. Unfortunately, that didnā€™t mean I could delete the feelings it caused or change the fact that Iā€™m not a good writer.

Two weeks went by and I didnā€™t write anything, let alone post. Then I received a comment on a story I had posted three years prior, one Iā€™d written after a death in our family. The comment read, ā€œThank you for sharing this heartfelt story. I really needed this. I just lost my mom and this really got me today.ā€

I stopped thinking about being a good writer after that. I thought instead, ā€œwhat if I had deleted my stories and that one person three years later hadnā€™t read it that day?ā€

Hereā€™s what I realized: no one is a good writer.

Good means to be approved of, but stories arenā€™t created from approval. Theyā€™re built from life experiences, feelings, and emotions Therefore, the impact of anyoneā€™s story isnā€™t good or bad. Itā€™s a million other things.

Heartfelt.

Sad.

Funny.

Inspiring.

Romantic.

So to all the story writers out there, hold your head up, write what is in your heart, and never doubt that there isnā€™t at least one person out there that needs to read your story.

So, no.

Weā€™re not good writers, but why would we want to be?

Holy shit did I need to read this today

Never doubt that there isnā€™t at least one person out there that needs to read your story.

And if that person is just yourself, thatā€™s okay too. I mean it, literally the only reason I started writing is that no one was writing what I wanted to read, and let me tell you, my writing may be a mess, but itā€™s a lot of fun for me to read. :)

If yā€™all wanna know the true power of hate, just remember that Alan Turing, the breaker of the enigma code in WWII, was driven to suicide by being forced to undergo chemical castration as a punishment for his homosexuality.

Historians say he saved 14 to 21 million lives.

Iā€™d also like to say in the time we studied WWII in school, the history textbooks never mentioned him. I had never heard of the guy until I watched ā€œThe Imitation Gameā€ which I 110% recommend you watch if you havenā€™t.Alan Turing was a blessing to humanity who saved (once again) 14 to 21 million lives, and he is left out of history because he was gay.

And this is just one example?? So many brilliant and heroic people are left out of history because of their race, their gender, their sexuality, their religion, and itā€™s just because some bigots in positions of influence get to decide what parts of history are remembered.

This man has had a profound effect on the world, itā€™s estimated he shortened the war by 2 years, saved countless lives and was the father of modern computing. Without him the world would be a very different, and very dark place.

He wasnā€™t just chemically castrated. The injections they have him were intended to decrease his libido as part his sentence for ā€œgross indecencyā€. About 2 years after his trial he was found dead in his apartment next to a half eaten apple that was filled with cyanide (which became the inspiration for the Apple logo).

Turing is one of the most amazing people in all of history. He developed our modern method of computing (see: the Turing Machine) and advanced computer science by immeasurable amounts. And he dies when he was 41. Just imagine if he lived in a world where he was accepted. Imagine the technology we would have today and how many more lives would have been saved. No person deserves what Turing got, especially not someone as brilliant as him.

TEACH. CHILDREN. ABOUT. ALAN. TURING! WHEN THEY LEARN ABOUT WWII, THEY DESERVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE MAN WHO ENDED IT!!!
