Every time the police say a murder was random, they usually mean it’s a hate crime where the victim was a woman. Because ‘random’ crimes and serial killings happen to women and are perpetrated by men, the motivation is invisible to the patriarchy. The women didn’t personally know that man, but he targeted them just because they were female.
Every time the police say a murder was domestic, they usually mean it’s a hate crime where the victim was a woman. Because ‘domestic’ crimes and serial killings happen to women, and are perpetrated by men, the motivation is invisible to the patriarchy. The women personally knows that man, and he targets them anyway. Every serial killer begins with abusing and killing the women he knows personally and then expands his range of targets to ‘random’ women.
It’s just misogyny. How have I watched so many true crime documentaries where the hatred of women is never mentioned?
Women are the social class most targeted by hate crimes by an unfathomably high margin, but we are not recognized as such because they are endemic to society.
Misogyny is rarely regarded by society to be on the same level as other forms of systemic oppression because it is endemic to society on a scale beyond comprehension.
