Oh look, I'm back on Tumblr! Sadly it isn't because I found myself back in an abundance of time and muse to write with. Well, time I have now I guess. Thanks to some very unexpected things the trickle of income I've had covering rent and bills came to an abrupt halt a few weeks ago. I've been struggling to find a new source of income that works for my situation and have a couple of prospects that I'm keeping my fingers crossed for. The biggest hurdle to finding employmen is that I have to be able to work around finding somewhere for my small human when I'm at work (thankfully I have a family member who is a saint and watches him, but she cannot do so fulltime or for extended times of the day and daycare is ridiculously expensive otherwise).

Compiled with my EBT application being left as pnded for over 30 days and the news from my vet today that one of my dogs does, in fact, have cancer, I'm having a rough time keeping us afloat. I'm looking at a means to finance treatment for the pupper, and have kept the small human fed with the mindfully stashed shelf stable and freezer goods I ferreted away in preparation for hurricane season but that will only last for so long at this point (I am blessed not to have a picky eater for a kiddo but it breaks my heart not to have fresh stuff to hand him when he wants some veggies or fruits).

I'm actively fighting with DCoF on the EBT front to find out why my application is still marked as pended and get whatever the issue is sorted out, but if anyone could spare a little to help alleviate the pending bills that December holds or to help put some fresh food on the table I'd be eternally gratefully. I can offer art as a thank you, a sketched or lined bust, just contact me via email or here on Tumblr.

My paypal is www.paypal.me/CaitlinWagner and you can email details for thank you art to wagnercaitlin3535@gmail.com

Dog tax (no, I won't post my kiddo online. I draw a hard line there with strangers but you can have my goofy furbabies) and some art examples under the cut

Tumblr gets my booba art a day later!! Just keeping things fresh... keeping things delightful! I actually considered coloring it, too, but nah, I'm good.

That fourth one is actually unrealistic bc 1. I already established Def doesn't sweat unless she's EXTREMELY extremely hot and 2. no big titty bitch would ever consider going without something to avoid underboob sweat and subsequent chafing!!

queer as in gay but also queer as in unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

The other thing about the word “queer” is that almost everyone I’ve seen opposed to it have been cis, binary gays and lesbians. Not wanting it applied to yourself is fine, but I think people underestimate the appeal of vague, inclusive terminology when they already have language to easily and non-invasively describe themselves.

Saying “I’m gay/lesbian/bi” is pretty simple. Just about everyone knows what you mean, and you quickly establish yourself as a member of a community. Saying “I’m a trans nonbinary bi woman who’s celibate due to dysphoria and possibly on the ace spectrum”… not so much. You’re lucky to find anyone who understands even half of that, and explaining it requires revealing a ton of personal information. The appeal of “queer” is being able to identify yourself without profiling yourself. It’s welcoming and functional terminology to those who do not have the luxury of simplified language and occupy complicated identities. *That’s* why people use it - there are currently not alternatives to express the same sentiment.

It’s not people “oppressing themselves” or naively and irresponsibly using a word with loaded history. It’s easy to dismiss it as bad or unnecessary if you already have the luxury of language to comfortably describe yourself.

There’s another dimension that always, always gets overlooked in contemporary discussions about the word “queer:” class. The last paragraph here reminds me of a old quote: “rich lesbians are ‘sapphic,’ poor lesbians are ‘dykes’.”

The reclaiming of the slur “queer” was an intensely political process, and people who came up during the 90s, or who came up mostly around people who did so, were divided on class and political lines on questions of assimilation into straight capitalist society.

Bourgeois gays and lesbians already had “the luxury of language” to describe themselves - normalized through struggle, thanks to groups like the Gay Liberation Front.

Everyone else, from poor gays and lesbians to bi and trans people and so on, had no such language. These people were the ones for whom social/economic assimilation was not an option.

The only language left, the only word which united this particular underclass, was “queer.” “Queer” came to mean an opposition to assimilation - to straight culture, capitalism, patriarchy, and to upper class gays and lesbians who wanted to throw the rest of us under the bus for a seat at that table - and a solidarity among those marginalized for their sexuality/gender id/presentation.

(Groups which reclaimed “queer,” like Queer Patrol (armed against homophobic violence), (Queers) Bash Back! (action and theory against fascism, homophobia, and transphobia), and Queerbomb (in response to corporate/state co-optation of mainstream Gay Pride), were “ultraleft,” working-class, anti-capitalist, and functioned around solidarity and direct action.)

The contemporary discourse around “queer” as a reclaimed-or-not slur both ignores and reproduces this history. The most marginalized among us, as OP notes, need this language. The ones who have problems with it are, generally, among those who have language - or “community,” or social/economic/political support - of their own.

Oh hey look it’s the story of my growing up.

All of this is true.

also, “qpoc” is a thing, like how about we not take away a term that a lot of people of color id with? thanks :))))

you need to support trans people who don’t want top or bottom surgery and that has to include the potential for them not having top or bottom dysphoria, trans people still having sex, and trans people conceiving children regardless of how you personally feel about the subject.

and that’s not just on cis people, thats on fellow trans people to be supportive of that too.

i need to take a shower but genuinely this applies to fandom spaces too, trans ppl are allowed to create art of trans characters who look like them and feel the way they feel and that includes trans characters who not just can’t but don’t want surgery, who still like their bodies and still interact with them including in nsfw ways.

if that makes you uncomfortable by all means don’t interact, but that means don’t interact. don’t tell them they’re not really trans and certainly don’t accuse them of being transphobic (or homo/lesbophobic!) for producing content in ways that make them feel seen.

You lot see a woman dating a camp or "effeminate" man and go "haha does she know she's a beard" as if bi men don't exist and don't have cause to subvert gender norms/have a complicated relationship with masculinity, regardless of who they're dating.

There’s also this implication that these women who date “effeminate” men can’t be genuinely attracted to them and are naive and oblivious towards their effeminacy. It a complete refusal to acknowledge that not only do gnc bi men exist, but women can be and are actually attracted to them. There doesn’t have to be settling or smoke screens in the relationship for it to work.

I can confirm as a bi woman, I like effeminate men and masc women

Sketch Busts

Heyo! It’s ya girl! Not in dire need of money or anything, but I am in dire need of stretching my leggies and getting back on the art game. So! I’m offering sketchy, simple busts for $7USD per.

A couple examples of sketches. Heavy details will be simplified for the sake of sketching, but I will maintain as much of the essence of a character as possible while doing so.

-No Animals/anthro/furry (Nothing personal, but my ability to draw critters or critter-y things is abysmal and I can’t charge you for that) Ears/horns are fine though, for you Au’ra/Miqo’te/Viera peeps.

-No mechs (Same as above)

Please email me at casperscomms@gmail.com to commission, or contact me through Discord at Roka#7673. Payment will be charged via Paypal invoice, do not just send money at random.

Not only is it okay for nonbinary people to have boobs and like their boobs. It’s also okay for nonbinary people to want boobs or to want bigger boobs. It’s okay for nonbinary people to dislike having a flat chest or to wish their boobs were bigger. It’s okay for nonbinary people to seek out medications and surgeries that will give them their desired silhouette. Nonbinary people who enjoy padding and wearing push up bras, should feel free to do so. Wanting boobs is fantastic and nonbinary people should feel free to celebrate boobs and to be excited for boobs. Wanting boobs is just as normal a thing for a nonbinary person to want as wanting a flat chest.

“Not queer like gay. Queer like, escaping definition. Queer like some sort of fluidity and limitlessness at once. Queer like a freedom too strange to be conquered. Queer like the fearlessness to imagine what love can look like…and pursue it.”
